Her last day at was Sunday, November 8. She will be missed. Kathy has worked here for 12 years, since February 2003. She has been a dietary aide, cook, and a dishwasher. When asked what her plans for retirement were she said, I plan to spend time with family, travel, and someday I ll make it to Hawaii. Kathy is going to Florida in February. And Kathy s husband, Ron, will be retiring the end of December. Good luck and congratulations!!! *RSVP for Christmas dinner at by Friday, December 11, 2015 by calling 815.273.2238.

Ida, Marlene and Shirley were working on scarves for our Warming Hearts project, Paul was making flower arrangements, and Jan was getting her nails done by Lisa Collins. Left and below: Halloween fun! Staff dressed up for Halloween on Friday, October 30. Jaime was a wake up call, Kat was a spider, Christa was a smarty pants, Lisa was a cowgirl, Christa was a bag of Jelly Belly s, Michelle was the Operation doctor, and Emily was pizza. Below the residents handed out candy to trick-or-treaters on Saturday, October 31, 2015. We re getting in the Christmas spirit! The residents helped put up the Christmas Village in the dining room Friday, November 20.

Santa for Seniors: There is a tree at Sullivan s where you can adopt a resident from Big Meadows. Santa for Seniors will be delivering the gifts to the residents at on Wednesday, December 23 at 10am. Reminders: +Please make sure your loved one has a warm coat, gloves and hat for winter outings, as weather permits. +Please mark any new clothing a resident may get for Christmas or anything new brought in. Be sure to get an Additional Inventory Sheet paper from staff to fill out if you bring in anything new. It is a 1/4 sheet of green paper and can be turned in to the front office. Savanna s River City Reader Page 5 Connections Announcements Resident Christmas Party The resident Christmas party will be held Wednesday, December 23, 2015 at 3:00 p.m. in the Connections Unit common area. Family is encouraged to join us. Santa will be handing out presents to each resident and refreshments will be served. Christmas dinner will be served at 11:30 a.m. in the main dining room on Friday, December 25th. Please RSVP by December 11 by calling 815.273.2238 with the number of guests, the cost is $5 per guest. Up to 4 guests only per resident please. If reservations are not made, we won t be able to serve you. The menu is still being selected, but the meal will be exquisite and appetizing. Announcements continued... is collecting plastic caps/lids to make a bench for the Connections Unit courtyard. We are going through a company called Green Tree Plastics, LLC. You may have seen some of these benches around. We ask that you start saving and bring what you save to. We need 400 pounds! What does that look like? The caps will fill approximately 10 55 gallon yard waste/trash bags! What items are acceptable and what aren t? Acceptable caps: medicine bottle caps, milk jug caps, detergent caps, hair spray caps, toothpaste tube caps, deodorant caps, drink bottle caps, flip-flop caps (ketchup, mustard), spout caps (mustard), spray paint caps, ointment tube caps, caps with Recycle numbers 2, 4 or 5. Acceptable lids: cottage cheese container lids, mayonnaise jar lids, yogurt lids, peanut butter jar lids, ice cream bucket lids, cool whip container lids, coffee can lids, cream cheese container lids, butter container lids. Never acceptable items: metal or trash of any kid: drink bottles, plastic ziplock bags, trigger sprayers, fast food drink lids, food containers, soap pumps, lotion pumps, grocery bags.
