Middletown Dance Team Policy 2016 2017 1. All team members and parents are required to sign the MDA Rules and Regulations understanding the commitments of the MDA dance program. Failure to do so will result in the dancer s ineligibility to compete until the forms are returned. 2. ALL COMPETITION FEES AND COSTUMES ARE NON- REFUNDABLE. 3. The season s team competition entry fees are to be paid before December 1 st. Attached is the payment schedule which should be followed unless other arrangements are made and approved. MDA pays entry fees on behalf of the dancers. Failure to comply will result in the dancer not competing. 4. Tuition to MDA is a separate fee. TUITION TO MDA MUST BE KEPT CURRENT IN ORDER TO GUARANTEE YOUR CHILD S PARTICIPATION IN ANY COMPETITION. Overdue balances may result in your child being unable to compete, regardless of entry fee payment. 5. All team members are required to compete in all competitions chosen by the teachers at the beginning of each season. If there is an interference with the dates, please talk with Ms. Alyson. Which dancers are to attend which competitions is at the discretion of the MDA staff. 6. Proper training attire is expected at all times for dancers. 7. Injured dancers are expected to attend practice and participate in activities to the extent that her/his doctor or trainer permits. 8. MDA team is your first priority over any special dances. 9. The official website for the studio is www.middletowndanceacademy.com and follow us on Facebook. The News section will post any MDA news, changes to training times, competition teams, etc. Please be sure to check it regularly.
Rules and Regulations for Dancers Dancers, parents and instructors must work together and communicate in order to deal with any issue including fear and burn-out. 1. Safety comes from discipline, and this is most important. 2. One hour of MDA ballet and one hour of technique are required to compete on the MDA team. 3. Dancers must want to achieve higher levels. Attitude is the most important criteria to the progress and development of national-level dancers. 4. For best results, dancers are expected to attend the required number of hours of rehearsal. If you will not be at practice, PLEASE call or email the studio and inform them. 5. Discipline and respect for instructors, staff and other dancers is expected at all times, even if you disagree with a teacher s decision or a judge s score. 6. Practice at any other competitive studio other than MDA is PROHIBITED and will result in dancer s removal from team. 7. Proper warm-up, training and competition attire is required at all times at competition. Team jacket must be worn on stage for awards. 8. Inappropriate language and behavior will not be tolerated. You are a representative of MDA at all times. 9. All dancers are expected to set the example for the rest of their teammates. At competitions where the entire MDA team competes, older dancers are expected to help and support the younger dancers. 10. During practice, food is not permitted. Please eat at least an hour before you come to practice. 11. Dancers are expected to attend all training. 12. If discipline becomes a problem, you may be asked to sit out of practice or leave all together. Bad behavior will not be tolerated.
Rules and Regulations for Parents 1. Conferences may be scheduled with your child s instructor at any time. 2. Conditioning at home is at the dancer s discretion. Forcing a dancer to practice causes resentment and burn-out. Every level trains a sufficient number of hours every week. If you feel your child needs more time at the studio, private lessons can be arranged. 3. Attendance is extremely important. If for any reason a dancer has to miss practice, it is THEIR responsibility to learn the dance. 4. Parents are encouraged and expected to show respect and support for the art of dance at all times. Negative comments about judges, parents, instructors and other dancers are inappropriate. It is your responsibility to set a POSITIVE example for the dancers. Be supportive of other team members and dancers, and also of instructor s decisions. 5. The MDA instructors are your liaison to the dance world. If there is any type of problem or issue that you feel needs to be addressed, it is the instructor s responsibility to take care of this, not the parent s. Please contact Miss Alyson to resolve any issues. 6. If a dancer is unable to attend a solo, duet or trio scheduled rehearsal, the front desk must be told 24 hours in advance by email or you will be charged the rehearsal fee. You will pay for the month s rehearsals at the first rehearsal of the month. If your duet/trio decides to rehearse without all members you will be charged accordingly.
