ELITE PART TIME PERFORMING ARTS S E U CT P S O 1 20 R P 8

ABOUT THE ELITE COURSE Patrick Studios Australia (PSA) is a full time performing arts studio training Australia s next generation of performers. In 2008, we commenced the Elite training squad for young dancers aged 7-18 years who are driven to achieve something special out of their dancing. Due to high demand, we now offer five squads: Advanced (16-18yo) Senior Elite (15-16yo) Intermediate Elite (13-14yo) Junior Elite (8-12yo) Sub Junior Elite (7-9yo) The Elite squads are a part-time training schedule specifically designed for young performing arts students who have dreams of developing their talent to one day working in the entertainment industry. This course acts as a bridge to the full-time professional development course run by PSA. The Elite course is designed to create a fully rounded performer and covers all bases needed in today s industry, from every dance style to vocal coaching and acrobatics. The Elite course extends a dancer s knowledge and technique to a new and higher level of training. With an emphasis on positive reinforcement and encouragement we aim to build a dancer s confidence as well as style and technique. There are opportunities for the squad to attend auditions and perform through its association with the school s talent agency, Patrick Management. Each squad will also compete in at least one Eisteddfod as a troupe. We will announce at the beginning of year which Eisteddfods we will be doing for the year so parents and students can lock in dates. Students can also compete as soloists or as a duet. A request form will be handed out on induction day to fill out. New solos/duos are generally taught in the term 1 holidays and weekly cleaning sessions are followed throughout the rest of the year. We have the best teachers offering their expertise and choreography to complement each dancer s own facility and style. Whilst we encourage the dancers to compete in Eisteddfods, this is not the main focus of the year. There is a midyear showcase, end of year dance showcases and other events throughout the year such as The Dance Cancer Initiative. The school s directors will guide the parents and students on how to achieve their dreams in a professional and educational environment that will cater to their unique needs. Acceptance into the course is by audition only. CLASSES Classes are split over 3 days: Senior & Advanced: Monday, Wednesday and Saturday Junior & Intermediate Elite: Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday Sub Junior: Monday, Wednesday and Saturday This provides every other day off during the week in order to avoid over training and burnout. Several different teachers cover 8 different classes, styles and techniques. One night a week is devoted to troupe work where the focus is on performance and team work, led by our directors Todd Patrick and Amanda Stone. All other classes are focused on technique, strength and style. A 95% attendance rate is mandatory.

COMMITMENT TO PSA A new procedure will be in place for 2018. We are passionate about continuing to lift the standard and to do this we need to focus on attendance and commitment. Each parent and student will need to sign a contract agreeing to 95% attendance for classes and 100% attendance to all performances and dress rehearsals. Our philosophy at PSA is to not be a jack of all trades but a master at your chosen passion. Therefore, school musicals, Saturday and after school sport, long extended camps (longer than one week) and any amateur productions will not be accepted if they clash with PSA classes or performances. What we will encourage is students being a part of professional musicals and any employment opportunities through our agency. We want PSA to provide an exclusive experience and the highest possible standard of training which can be provided if students and parents fully dedicate to the program. If you break the contract you will be asked to leave our program. TEACHING STAFF PSA s artistic director, Todd Patrick, will teach jazz and contemporary class to the students every week. With a wealth of knowledge from an extremely successful career in Australia, Europe and Asia, Todd provides a verbal and physical education straight from the industry. Todd also takes a Boys Class, which is a structured, technical class designed to strengthen and develop a masculine dance style for the male students. Amanda Stone is the Director of the Elite Squad and Junior School. She brings a wealth of knowledge in not only teaching children, but in children s entertainment, choreographing shows for The Walt Disney Company, Warner Bros, Sesame Street and Nickelodeon just to name a few. Amanda now creates shows with her own production company Stone Productions Australia. Amanda also holds an associate diploma in dance instruction and management. She teaches the Elite Squads Musical Theatre and Jazz. Other teachers include: Jazz Todd Patrick, Amanda Stone, Hayley Winch, Luca Dinardo, Stefan Lagoulis Contemporary/Lyrical Todd Patrick, Luca Dinardo, Stefan Legoulis Acrobatics Valentina Barabach, Thomas McDonald, Simon Storey, Amy Richardson Ballet Elysia Cardona, Philipa Sprague (RAD syllabus) Hip Hop Nadia Tornese, Marni McGrath Vocal Emma Callaghan, Nick Hedger Musical Theatre Amanda Stone, Andrew Hallsworth Tap Sarah King, Brianna Taylor, Amelia Homes, Carly Watson, Carrie Green.
