The Feed Bag September 2017 Volume 39, Issue 9 A Diablo Valley Mustang Association Publication THEY RE THE BEST OF THE BEST MCA Grand National Car Show Overland Park, KS by John Haugrud If you re looking for a truly awesome display of Mustang excellence, then an MCA Grand National Show, usually held just once a year, is the place to be. This year it was held in Overland Park, KS, a suburb of Kansas City, MO and the convention center venue was just excellent. I ve been to a lot of MCA shows across the country as a Gold Judge for MCA and this event was definitely one of the best I ve been to. The Mustang Club of Greater Kansas City really had their act together and things just flowed very well. There were close to 500 Mustangs there with all classes represented and, as a restorer myself, I felt the quality of the entrants was top notch. Ron Freitas, also an MCA Gold Judge, and I were both there judging our class, 1969-70 Mustangs and Bosses. Needless to say, the owners of these fine examples are always pleased to come away with a Gold or Silver from one of these Grand Nationals because that trophy definitely adds prominence which in turn adds tremendous value to their car. Here are a few pictures from our time in KC. DVMA DISPATCH President s Message Congratulations to new and returning Board members. DVMA will hold the Installation event at El Tapatio, Pleasant Hill, on Sept 17 from 3:00 to 6:00 pm. I hope all of our members will come and enjoy dinner and a fun time with DVMA people. See information in our newsletter. Karen and I had an excellent afternoon on Aug 19 at Tiffany Court Assisted Living in Walnut Creek. I parked my 2006 GT and old and young people commented on the beautiful car. Yes, I am proud. There were just a few cars and a real well-maintained tractor. Chip Herman and his wife drove his 1965 Shelby GT 350 and his wife parked her beautiful red Porsche. The residents were very happy to have tiny margaritas and see the car show for their benefit and enjoyment. There was music inside the facility by a talent musician and it was a party afternoon. Tiffany Court is a lovely facility and holds this event for their residents. Our next meeting will be Sept 13 and you can reserve and pay for the In- stallation event at that meeting. We can also discuss ongoing events and where you have gone for car excitement. Did you watch the eclipse? Did you travel to see the eclipse? Tell us all about it!!
