The shirts have a skier logo and the name of the club on the front, and to commemorate our 40 th, anniversary the (T shirts only) have the slogan 40 YEARS AND STILL GOING DOWNHILL printed on the back. Currently we have a limited number of the shirts in indigo blue, however we can get the shirts in maroon, forest green, and black. Utica Community Food Donation Christmas cheer was bestowed to the Utica Community Food Bank this holiday season. Members Donna Pratt & Pricilla Mills presented a check for $172.00 and 35 pounds of food to the Pantry. Much gratitude and appreciation was received for the donations. Cross Country Corner Sat., Jan. 28 Greenbelt Chill Out, 11 a.m. Meet at HSBC Bank in Mapledale and car pool to Greenbelt Trails in Trenton. Trails range from easy to intermediate. Estimated distance: 3 miles. Chill out afterwards with a chili party at Betty Murtaugh s house. Betty will supply chili and salad. Please bring a beverage of your choice. Fri.-Sun., Feb. 3-5 Ed s Beds, departure times optional. This is an old favorite. Both downhill and XC skiers can participate. Ski nearby Gore Mt. or Garnet Hill. Deposits will be taken at the Dec. 6 meeting, $30 minimum. Fee for two nights' lodging is $60, with additional $5 fee for parking. Further details will be available at the December meeting and in the Jan. newsletter. Sat., Feb. 25 Snowbird Lake Special, 11 a.m. Short ski hike and house party with Tony & Jan Bartolotti at Snowbird Lake, Forestport. Estimated distance: 1-3 miles. Please bring a dish to pass. Limited to 25. (Optional trips with Tramp & Trail Club) Jan. 6-8, Heart Lake/Lake Placid Weekend Optional departure time. Meet at ADK Loj at Heart Lake. A variety of skiing, snowshoeing or hiking to meet your interests, including nearby Verizon Sports Complex Cross Country Center at Mt. Van Hoevenberg. Cost is $50 per person per night with breakfast included. Dinner is available for $15 per person per night, with 24-hour advance reservation. Reservation deadline, Dec. 5. TELLURIDE TRIP - MARCH 11-18, 2006 The cost of trip is $1400. 3 rd payment due $200, by Jan 1, 4th $200 by Feb. 1, and final $300 by March 1. Quebec Ski Weekend - February 16-19, 2006 We'll be skiing Mont-Sainte Ann, Le Massif, and Stoneham. Our home will be in Old Quebec City at the Manior Victoria Hotel. This is a Thursday-Sunday trip leaving Thursday afternoon. Cost is $475.00 including coach, hotel with three full buffet breakfasts, luggage handling, and lift tickets for 3 days. Final payment due, $100 by Jan. 15. We have 6 openings Contact Marci 737-8936 or Chuck 797-3069 for further details New Hampshire Ski Weekend January 20-22, 2006 Bretton Woods is known for its well groomed cruising terrain and spectacular views. BW offers 101 trails with a wide variety of terrain, 200 inches of snow annually, 434 acres, 1500 vertical drop, 10,560 longest run, 9 lifts including 4 high speed quads. Cannon Mountain is set amid the natural beauty of Franconia Notch State Park. Cannon offers 55 trails 9 novice, 26 intermediate, and 20 expert trails. Vertical drop is 2146. Cannon offers 7 lifts including a 70 passenger Aerial Tramway to speed you to the summit! Nordic skiers: There are 100 kilometers of trails for classical and skate skiing, plus snowshoeing. Lift-serviced cross-country and snow shoeing trails, starting near the top of the Brenton Woods alpine area Warming yurts are located on several trails. GORE MT Trip- Sunday, Feb 12th, Car pool Trip Meet at the Riverside Ctr near B J's gas at 6:30AM. This is a NYCD Ski Council Day, so lower pricing will be offered BELLEAYRE Mt. Trip Thursday, Jan 26th, Carpool trip Meet at 7 AM in the Tops Plaza parking lot in Washington Mills Lift tickets are only $10. McCauley Mt. Trip Sunday, Jan. 29 th, We will meet at the chalet at McCauley around 9:30 AM Fri Jan 13 - Gore Sat Jan 14 Gore Sun Jan 15 - West Mt ( * = Unconfirmed at this time) Demo days known at this time: Try new skis at these places, driver license and credit card needed. JANUARY ISSUE Saranac Thursdays / United Way Finale On December 13th, 9 Members of the GE Ski Club attended the Campaign Celebration and Awards Dinner for the United Way of Greater Utica, at the Radisson Hotel. We had over 40 volunteers who worked a total of 105 hours at the Saranac Thursday events, which raised $30,000 for the United Way Campaign. President Randy Brooke received the prestigious White Tap Handle Trophy Award, for the volunteer work of the GE SKI Club. Table sponsors for the GE SKI Club consisted of Randy Brooke, Marci Green, Theresa Zehe, Marty & Kathy Baca, Bob & Barb Jakubowski & Donna & Roger Pratt.
