Figure 1 Ametek Model 1409 series, P/N: 161952, 300 PSI gauge also referenced by Barfield P/N: 304-00103 1.0 INCOMING CALIBRATION CERTIFICATION CHECK AS RECEIVED The purpose of this procedure is to confirm the Instrument (Ametek Model 1409 series, P/N: 161952, 300 PSI gauge also referenced by Barfield P/N: 304-00103) meets the OEM accuracy specification of 0.5% of span. At the completion of this certification check, a Certificate of Calibration will be generated for each instrument. 1.1 Remove reservoir cap. 1.2 Wind the handle fully CCW until it stops, than CW about 10 turns. Note: This prevents the fluid from flowing through the comparator leaking out from the UUT test port. 1.3 Verify the IS31-600 psi reference gauge is installed on the GaugeCal-XP test bench. 1.4 Power ON the IS31-600 reference gauge. 1.5 After IS31-600 initializes, press the zero button Note: this must be done before installing UUT 1.6 Turn handle CW on GaugeCal-XP test bench until fluid is seen rising up near the top of quick connect fitting. Keep fluid level ~ 2 threads below top of fitting. 20-304-00103 August 06, 2013 Page 4 / 6
1.7 Before installing UUT gauge on GaugeCal-XP test bench, verify pointer indicates ~0 psi (± 2 psi.) If zero adjustment is required, unscrew gauge collar ring which secures polycarbonate clear cover from gauge. While gentle holding pointer from moving (don t hold pointer, position finger against dial above or below pointer as need to keep it from rotating during the next step) use adjustment tool received with gauge and insert tool in small hole on tail end of indicating pointer. If pointer indicates + offset for 0 turn tool CCW gently. Remove tool and finger from dial and observe pointer position to see if it is resting on 0. Repeat steps until 0 indication is achieved. 1.8 Install UUT on GaugeCal-XP Test Bench. 1.9 Turn handle on GaugeCal-XP test bench for a reading of 0 (±0.1) on the IS31-600 reference gauge. 1.10 Verify reservoir has enough isopropyl alcohol. If required add fluid, a mixture of 50% distilled water / 50% Isopropyl alcohol. 1.11 Remove any remaining air bubbles from the Comparator. Note: This is done by winding the handle of the Comparator CCW until it stops, notice if the reservoir level drops indicating air is in the system. It may be necessary to do this several times until the reservoir level does not drop from winding the handle CW ~ 10 turns followed by CCW ~10 turns until it stops. 1.12 Run the FastCal-XP program. 1.13 Select Lookup Existing Gauge or Create New Gauge, whichever is applicable. 1.14 If Create New Gauge is selected, perform the following steps, otherwise continue with step 1.13. Welcome to the Add New Gauge Select Next > Step1: Select Ametek as the Manufacture Select Next >. Step2: Select the Model: 1409-161952 Select Next > o Note: Ametek Model: 1409, Range: 161952 = 300 PSI Step3: Select Location: Barfield Inc. (Shop 3) Select Next > Step4: Enter Gauge Information o Gauge number (Barfield p/n s/n) Example: 304-00103-0117 Note: p/n-s/n required to create unique gauge number in the database. o Serial number: 0117 (This is redundant but is required so the gauge record is unique). o Nickname: Not required (blank) o Calibration due: mm/dd/yyyy Enter today s date with the year advanced by 1. Another words calibration required in 12 months. o Select: Finish 20-304-00103 August 06, 2013 Page 5 / 6
1.15 Select Perform as Received Cal. 1.16 The Calibration Wizard welcome page will be displayed while it autodetect the reference. 1.17 The Calibration Wizard will prompt for the 1 st Reading @ 0.0 PSI, while UUT gauge is indicates 0 ± 3 PSI, select Next Point. Note: Adjust 0 if required on UUT per MFG instruction if required. 1.18 Using the GaugeCal-XP test bench, turn the handle CW until the UUT gauge displays the Target Pressure value prompted by the Calibration Wizard. 1.19 While UUT gauge indicates the Target pressure, select Next Point. 1.20 Repeat steps 1.18 & 1.19 above for the next five pressure calibration points. Continue with step 1.21 after ALL pressure calibration points have been completed. Verify that ALL calibration points taken resulted with a P for Pass (i.e. gauge is within Tolerance specification). Backup an repeat test pressure again to see if it will Pass. 1.21 As prompted by the Calibration Wizard VENT, turn the handle CCW on the GaugeCal-XP test bench until the UUT gauge displays 0.0 PSI. 1.22 Select Finish 1.23 Select Use As-Received for As Left. 1.24 Select Save Data. {located under Calibration Status section of screen} 1.25 Select Generate Certificate. 1.26 FastCal-XP program will launch Microsoft Excel and generate and display the Calibration Certificate for the UUT. 1.27 Excel will present an exception window stating: To Continue saving as a macro-free workbook select Yes 1.28 Using Microsoft Excel, select Office Button {top left corner of screen}, Print, select Entire workbook. This will print ALL 3-pages of the Calibration Certificate for the UUT. 1.29 Apply a calibration label to the rear of the Gauge. 1.30 If one or more points Failed, the test gauge must be tagged BER or if the gauge is new, return to Vendor for credit. 1.31 This completes the Instrument Certification Procedure. 20-304-00103 August 06, 2013 Page 6 / 6
