FISH BITES The Marlins continue a nine-game, 10-day road trip tonight with the third game of a four-game set against the Milwaukee Brewers. Opened the trip splitting a two-game set at Yankee Stadium, had a day off on Wednesday and have dropped the first two games at Miller Park. The current road trip will wrap up with a trip west to take on the Los Angeles Dodgers for a three-game series from Monday-Wednesday. YESTERDAY'S RECAP Miami dropped their second straight game and suffered their third shutout of the season with an 8-0 loss at Milwaukee. Trevor Richards took the loss, allowing six runs (five earned) in 3.2 IP with five strikeouts and a career-high six walks. RF JB Shuck collected the Marlins' lone multi-hit game, going 2x4. VS. BREWERS The Marlins went 2-4 vs. the Brewers in 2017, with all six games taking place at Miller Park after Miami's home series from September 15-17 was moved to Milwaukee due to Hurricane Irma. After dropping the first two games of this series, the Marlins are 69-73 all-time vs. the Brewers, 28-35 overall at Miller Park and 31-41 all-time in Milwaukee. IN RELIEF Marlins relievers have combined to toss 88.0 innings this season, most in the NL and second in the Majors to the Angels (89.2). Have struck out 100 batters, tied with the Padres for second most in the Majors behind the Yankees (111). LOOKING FOR #3 14 of the 20 runs allowed by Marlins pitchers this series, and 21 of the 33 runs allowed on this road trip, have been permitted with two outs. GARCÍA'S GRACE Over his first two Major League starts, Jarlin García combined to allow just one hit in 11.0 ip in two starts (vs. Mets, at Yankees). In his first career start, tossed 6.0 no-hit innings April 17 against the Mets at Marlins Park, becoming the only pitcher in Marlins history to go as many as 6.0 innings in his starting debut without allowing a hit (Elias) and the first Major League pitcher to throw 6.0-or-more no-hit innings in his first career start since Ross Stripling of the Dodgers on April 18, 2016 at San Francisco (7.1 ip). In his second start on Tuesday, held the Yankees hitless until a one-out double in the fifth, finishing with 5.0 scoreless innings and just the one hit allowed. Snapped a streak of 38 consecutive batters faced without allowing a hit. According to the Elias Sports Bureau, his 10.0IP streak to begin his career as a starting pitcher ties the Modern Era (since 1900) record (also the St. Louis Browns Bobo Holloman, 10.0IP in May 1953, which included a 9.0-inning no-hitter in his first career start on 5/6/53 vs. Philadelphia. Holloman had made four prior career relief appearances). Additionally according to Elias, Garcia s 10.0-inning hitless streak was tied for the second-longest in Marlins history (Armando Benitez- 11.0IP in Aug.-Sept. 2004; Al Leiter-10.0IP in May 1996; Kevin Brown-10.0IP in June '97; and Anibal Sanchez-10.0IP in Sept. '06). Overall this season, is holding hitters to a.091 (6x66) average with a 0.86 ERA (21.0 ip/2 er) in four appearances (two starts). WELCOME BACK J.T. Realmuto made his season debut in Tuesday's win at Yankee Stadium, going 2x4 with two runs scored, a home run and four RBI. Was reinstated from the 10-day disabled list (low back contusion) prior to the game. Through the first 16 games of the season, Marlins catchers combined to hit.169 (10x59) with no home runs and four RBI. Is a career.317 batter on the road, and owns a.333 road average (191x574) since 2016, the third-highest road avg in the Majors over the stretch. Only Houston's Jose Altuve (.380; 252x664) and Washington's Daniel Murphy (.337; 187x555) have better road averages in that span. MINOR MATTERS Single-A Jupiter's Joe Dunand on Monday was named Florida State League's Player of the Week for April 5-15. Dunand, selected in the 2nd round of the 2017 draft, hit.372 (16x43) with three doubles, one triple, two home runs, 12 runs scored and 13 RBI in 10 games. He currently leads the FSL in runs (15) and RBI (17), ranks four in hits (19), and seventh in total bases (31). Also on Monday, Double-A Jacksonville's Jeff Brigham was named the Southern League's Pitcher of the Week for April 5-15. In two starts, went 2-0 and tossed 10.0 scoreless innings with six hits allowed and 18 strikeouts and just two walks. Brigham, originally drafted by the Dodgers in 2014 (fourth round), was acquired by Miami on July 30, 2015 with Victor Araujo and Kevin Guzman in a deal that sent Mat Latos and Michael Morse to Los Angeles. PARTNERING UP The Marlins, on Friday, named Citrix - based out of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. - as the team s Official Innovation Partner, a deal that features Citrix as the entitlement partner of the Founders Suite Level at Marlins Park. The Marlins have now signed 24 new carporate partners for the 2018 season and surpassed their total revenue generated by corporate partnerships for the entirety of 2017. YOU'RE KILLIN' ME SMALLS The Marlins will host a celebration of the 25th anniversary of The Sandlot on July 15 at Marlins Park as the Marlins take on the Philadelphia Phillies at 1:10 p.m. As part of Sandlot Day, the Marlins will give away a limited number of Hamilton 'Ham' Porter bobbleheads while supplies last, and show a screening of the great 1990s baseball movie postgame on Marlins Vision. The first 2,000 fans who purchase an exclusive Sandlot Day ticket package on Marlins.com/Themes will receive an exclusive Squints bobblehead.
