Trainer W Walters was fined $100 for the late notification of a rider for Kerrigan. Without A Pop was slow to begin (2 lengths). Linus and Postage Paid were slow to begin. Flytir got its head up during the early stages when being restrained to obtain cover. Rider J Rule reported Postage Paid hung in. Upon return to scales, M Munday rider of Chu Chu Charlie that was officially placed second by the Judge lodged an Objection against Tejanos Tale that was officially placed first by the Judge alleging interference from the 500 metres until the entrance to the straight. On the evidence it was established Tejanos Tale shifted out and brushed with Chu Chu Charlie in the vicinity of the 500 metres. Stewards however could not be satisfied that this interference warranted an amendment to the placings. The Objection was dismissed and Correct Weight declared on the Judges numbers.

When questioned regarding the seemingly improved performance of Tejanos Tale, co-trainer J Edwards stated they had altered the geldings training regime recently from short distance to over more ground and had also allowed the gelding to settle where comfortable in an attempt to have it relax in its races. His comments were noted. When questioned regarding the tactics adopted upon Kerrigan that ultimately led the field, rider K Walters stated after beginning well and being caught wide, she permitted her mount to stride forward. Her comments were noted. A post race veterinary examination of Chu Chu Charlie (Beaten $1.45 fav.) failed to reveal any obvious abnormalities. Post race swab samples were collected from Chu Chu Charlie. Race 2 THE WHALERS HOTEL MAIDEN PLATE - 1100 metres: Honour System and Zizous Dream were tightened at the start between Gilarde and Soul Fire that shifted out on jumping away. Gilarde laid out under pressure in the straight. It was noted passing the 200 metres rider B Mertens (Gilarde) momentarily lost use of his off side rein. Rider J Cartwright reported Soul Fire raced greenly and highlighted the horses immature racing manners, particularly passing the 600 metres. J Cartrwright (Soul Fire) was fined $200 under the provisions of AR 137A(5)(a)(ii) for his use of the whip in a forehand manner on seven occasions prior to the 100 metres. R Maloney rider of Meteors Man that performed below market expectations, reported he believed the gelding may have choked down. R Maloney added in his opinion Meteors Man resented the tongue tie when having its first race start at Cranbourne 9 January 2015. A post race veterinary examination of Meteors Man revealed no obvious abnormalities. Rider B Mertens was questioned regrading his tactics adopted upon Gilarde that led and in particular if he could have afforded Gilarde some respite through the middle stages. B Mertens explained he was instructed to sit outside the leader or lead if possible and noted the filly began well. B Mertens added Gilarde was travelling comfortably through the middle stages before he commenced to quicken approaching the 400 metres. His comments were noted. Race 3 JG KING HOMES SV 3YO FILLIES MAIDEN PLATE - 1200 metres: Tillation was checked after the start between This Time and Magnus Reward that shifted in upon jumping. Upon return to scales rider N Beriman reported after being slow to begin and then meeting with interference, Tillation settled further back than intended. Powerossa commenced awkwardly. The Last Angel was eased at the start from its wide draw before settling at the rear. Keep The Klass over raced through the middle stages.

Approaching the 800 metres Metronomy commenced to over race after being crossed by the leader Magnus Reward. Already Leica and Tillation had to be steadied to avoid heels leaving the 800m metres when the pace slackened. Passing the 600 metres, The Last Angel was checked to avoid the heels of Tillation. Passing the 500 metres Powerossa shifted out to improve and in doing so inconvenienced Hors La Loi. Metronomy was held up rounding the turn and until straightening. Riders R Maloney (Already Leica), E Creighton (Hors La Loi) and N Beriman (Tillation) were questioned regarding an incident near the 200 metres where Tillation appeared to meet with interference. On the evidence it was established Hors La Loi has shifted in marginally before being straightened by its rider and made slight contact with Tillation that has been steadied when tightened. E Creighton was reminded of his obligations and no further action was deemed necessary. Rider M Allen (Powerossa) was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under the provisions of AR 137(a). The careless riding being that inside the final 100 metres, M Allen carelessly permitted Powerossa to shift in when being ridden along when not sufficiently clear of Keep The Klass (NZ) that has been taken in off its course and into the line of Magnus Reward that has been checked by its rider Craig Robertson and lost its rightful running. The licence of M Allen to ride in races was suspended for a total of 9 meetings commencing midnight 21 January 2015 and concluding midnight 29 January 2015 (7 provincial, 2 metropolitan). In assessing penalty Stewards deemed the incident to be in the low range and took into account M Allens record and the circumstances. During the running of the race Powerossa lost a near hind plate. Race 4 MATKO HIRE MAIDEN PLATE - 1300 metres: Skye Laird that was having its first race start for 12 months, underwent a pre race veterinary examination and was passed fit to run. Trainer P Payne was fined $100 for the late notification of a rider for Blue Smoke. Blue Smoke was hampered at the start by Greeta that commenced awkwardly and shifted in. Patche got its head up when being restrained through the early stages and settling in at a worse than midfield position. When questioned regarding the tactics adopted upon Patche, rider J Hill explained he was happy to come back and ride the gelding with cover to enable his mount to settle. J Hill added in hindsight with a noted lack of speed in the event, Patche may have been better suited to a more forward position. J Hill added Patche will benefit when stepping up in distance in future. A post race veterinary examination revealed no significant abnormalities. Skye Laird was restrained through the early stages when settling at the rear of the field. It was noted passing the 1000 metres Skye Laird was again restrained by his rider. When questioned, M Munday explained he initially settled back to avoid being caught wide. M. Munday highlighted he restrained his mount near the 1000m in order for the gelding to settle and also to avoid the heels of Patche that was racing ungenerously in advance. M Munday stated it had been his intention to obtain a midfield position with cover circumstances permitting. His comments were noted.

Siga La Vaca raced wide through the early stages before obtaining a position outside the leader passing the 800 metres. Pocket Thief raced wide throughout before giving ground in the straight. Rider C Puls reports Pocket Thief felt uncomfortable in its race. A post race veterinary examination of Pocket Thief revealed no obvious abnormalities. Approaching the 200 metres Zaras Balcony shifted out to improve and in doing so took Blue Smoke out onto Greeta that in turn shifted out and brushed Patche. Passing the 150 metres Unicaja was held up behind the tiring Pointer Sister. Shortly after passing the winning post Shintaro shifted in and made contact with Siga La Vaca unbalancing both runners. Gold Bridian over raced through the early and middle stages before being permitted to stride forward three wide from the 700 metres. Passing the 200 metres Muchos Respectos was disappointed for a run between Australian Venture and Gold Bridian that shifted in marginally. Muchos Respectos has then been held up and went to the line having not been fully tested. It was noted approaching the winning post Gold Bridian was steadied by its rider N Beriman to avoid the heels of Curragh King that shifted in marginally. Race 6 CRI-TECH PLUMBING 0-58 HANDICAP - 1200 metres: Correct Weight was delayed to enable riders R Maloney (King Manu NZ) and J Cartwright (Trick N Treat) who were placed equal second by the Judge, the opportunity to view the photo finish. Streetshavenoname was hampered at the start by Kalkidan that shifted out when bumped by Act Of Freedom. Kings Landing over raced through the early stages. Boom Boom Baby raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event. Boom Boom Baby was under pressure from the 500 metres before being eased down in the straight. An irregular heart rhythm was detected on post race veterinary examination. Boom Boom Baby shall not start in any race until the Stewards have received a satisfactory veterinary report. The report must include the results of an ECG performed at rest and cardiac auscultation performed within 30 minutes of completing a satisfactory gallop of at least 1000 metres. Passing the 150 metres Act Of Freedom and Kings Landing were tightened and hampered between Kalkidan that shifted in marginally and King Manu that shifted out when hampered by Miles In Front. At a subsequent inquiry rider B Mertens (Miles In Front) was spoken to advisedly and reminded to stop riding and straighten his mounts in similar circumstances. Over the concluding stages Miles In Front and King Manu raced in restricted room when tightened between Danzoo and Trick N Treat due to both horses shifting ground. When questioned regarding Streetshavenoname that performed below market expectations, rider M Allen reported the gelding settled well however failed to finish the race off as expected. M Allen added Streetshavenoname may not have been entirely comfortable in its action on pulling up. A post race veterinary examination of Streetshavenoname revealed no obvious abnormalities.
