Lincoln Bowmen s winter leagues begin Sunday, January 4th and culminate with the league banquet on April 18th. There are a variety of leagues to choose from, Sunday afternoon - Friday night. Sign-up sheets are posted at the club, however, the Friday night league is already full so sign up soon!! Sunday Drop In Target League - this is a Drop-In league, great for those target shooters that want to shoot a league without the weekly commitment. It offers a fun forum for archers to compete again their personal best score or another archer with a chance to win a portion of the shooter fees collected. The league shoots the Vegas FITA target for the first half and the NFAA target for the second half. Sherry Lance (313-770-3813), Larry McNew (734-502-2256) and Tim Grapentine (734-934-8047) are running this league. Monday 2D Target League - the Monday night league is a 2D, hunter league. Archers shoot at paper, true life animal targets. Felipe (313-350-2236) and Wendy Hinojosa (313-218-0670) are the league chairs. Tuesday Traditional League - the Tuesday night league is for adult traditional archers shooting longbows, recurve or self bows without all the factory gadgets (no sights, stabilizers, or releases). Archers shoot at burlap animal targets. The league is run by Cindy and Tom Gargan (734-748-4300). Thursday 3D League - the Thursday night 3D league is a 3D competitive where Lincoln s best 3D archers compete for bragging rights and top honors. The league is run by Scott Wakefield (313-903-2113) and Mike Perez (734-612-6453). Friday Family 3D League - the Friday night league is a family fun league geared toward families, where Mom, Dad and the kids can try their hand at shooting 3D competition. The league is run by Angel Elliott (313-938-1418) or Nick Adams (313-641-4278). Please note, the Friday league is already FULL.- Possible Saturday 3D League - the league committee is looking at a possible Saturday 3D league as well. A signup sheet is posted to measure interest. Contact Larry McNew for more information (734-502-2256). 3D Chili Shoot Our annual chili shoot is Sunday, January 18, 2015, 9AM - 1PM. The Golden Spoon Award goes to the best chili cook. To enter, simply show up at the club with your favorite chili by 10AM. Judging begins at 1PM, at the end of the shoot. December / January Calendars 6 For more information see our 3D Page on our website or Contact Scott Jackson (313-291-2368) 1

Presidents Corner - Larry McNew NEWS LETTER OF LINCOL N BOWMEN Backstops - As the new year approaches I have noticed a lot more members shooting indoors. Some of you are getting tuned up for the winter leagues, others are setting their sights for the Lancaster and Vegas shoots. With all of this activity the new backstops are getting a good workout. Most everyone agrees that they are a big improvement over the old backstops. Please remember to rotate your target from top to bottom and bottom to top; and please do not place your target in the center of the backstop. By rotating the targets and not shooting in the center of the backstops the manufacturer says that the life of the backstop will greatly increase. Leagues - The winter league signup sheets are posted inside the club house. There are some changes to the 3D league this year. There will not be a Wednesday night league this year. Wednesday night shooters will be joining the Thursday night league. This will leave Wednesday night open for members to shoot. Angel Elliott has informed me that the Friday night league is full. Saturday night has been setup for a 3D league if enough shooters sign up. There will also be a Sunday afternoon drop-in league. The Sunday league isn t really a league! So what is it? It s a fun shoot for all ages and levels of shooters. From the new archer to the old pros. At the end of the shoot everyone s score card is placed in the wire tumbler and two are drawn for prize money. The archers really enjoy this game! Club Cleaning - Have you noticed how clean the club house always is? This doesn t happen by magic. Each month two Board members are assigned to make sure that the club house is cleaned. Starting this month their names will be listed in the newsletter. If you would like to help with the cleaning and also get some work hours in, contact them. Back Course - Jim McGinnis is still working on the back course and is planning to do a lot of work on the course over the Holidays. I m sure he would welcome your help. Deer Contest - The deer contest is still going on until January 1st. The deer to beat in the north zone is Lee Green s 5pt and Nick Moffit s 8pt in the South zone. In closing I would like to thank all of the members that have supported Lincoln Bowmen, the Board of Directors, and me this past year. Wishing you and your families Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! Breakfast with Santa The Lincoln Bowmen Youth Archery Program invited Santa and Mrs. Claus to breakfast on Saturday, December 6, 2014. Reflecting on previous years with the Lincoln Bowmen family, Santa remembered that they always serve the best pancakes! As a special surprise for the children, Santa wanted to swap his trusty sled and reindeer for a helicopter! Arrangements were made so Rudolph arranged a weekend at the Snow Spa for all of the Reindeer. Twas the night before breakfast and the Grinch swooped in and disabled the helicopter! Santa was frantic! The reindeer were away and could not pull his sleigh, the elves could not fix the helicopter. What to his wondering eyes should appear but a big red fire engine with 4 firemen and a car full of policemen!! The Brownstown Fire and Police Departments heard about Santa s dilemma and volunteered to help. The police came first to ensure the Grinch could cause no more problems. With sirens blasting the Brownstown Fire and Rescue squad delivered Santa safely to Lincoln Bowmen!! Santa, Mrs. Clause and the Elves were awesome as all the children relayed their Christmas wishes to Santa. DJ Joe provided Santa s favorite music, inspiring Coach Sherry and Coach Nick to sing and dance with the kids. Santa s friend Nicole applied glitter tattoos and Kevin Campbell took lots of pictures! Thank you to the Lincoln Bowmen family for their generosity and help with this wonderful event! 2 NEWS LETTER OF LINCOL DECEMBER N BOWMEN 2014

Wild Game Dinner Needs Annual Deer Contest The annual wild game dinner at Lincoln Bowmen will be held on Saturday February 28, 2015. We are in need of all types of game such as elk, moose, antelope, buffalo, caribou, perch, walleye and pheasant. Small and large amounts will help. This year we are in need of walleye and perch more than any other game. We use approximately 35 pounds of fish for this dinner and we have not received much. If you have any of these or know of a source, please contact Scott Rhind (734) 306-1316 or Larry Thorn at (734) 586-2425. All donations would be greatly appreciated! This year the WGD committee decided to change up the raffles and include a Thompson Encore Pro Hunter XT.50 caliber black powder muzzle loader. Gun Features: FlexTech recoil reducing stock, Quick Load Accurizor with reduced rifling at the tip for easy loading, Weather Shield coating and a patented ambidextrous Swing Hammer. With the changeable barrel you can build a world class magnum muzzleloader, a center fire rifle, a special purpose shotgun or compact big bore brush gun. Durability and accuracy is never lost, and the attached scope will stay sighted-in when the barrel is reinstalled. Supplied by: Shooters Edge Monroe, MI The Lincoln Bowen Deer contest is open to all club members who hold a valid membership in the club as of October 1, 2014. Only deer taken under fair chase in the state of Michigan with a bow and arrow are eligible. The state is divided into two units which consists of the north zone and a south zone. The north zone covers the upper peninsula and the northern lower (zones 1 & 2). The south zone covers the southern part of the state (zone 3). Prizes will be given to each zone as follows: 1. Largest rack 2. Heaviest buck 3. Heaviest doe A witnessed weight slip is required for the heaviest buck and doe or the member can contact our chairman, Larry McNew (734-502-2256) to have their deer weighed. This contest is free to all members and runs to January 1, 2015. The prizes will be awarded during the wild game dinner. Message from the Board Karl Keesee - Monday nights practice is the place to be for our young Archers. It has become an unscheduled practice for many of the kids in our youth archery program. I have seen as few as 5 and as many as 25 kids and adults shooting, laughing and sharing experiences. Here at Lincoln Bowmen we strive to encourage all types of archery from traditional to crossbow; from 3D shooters to the tournament bound. If your interest is archery we have the venue you desire. From the beginner to the pro, archery always brings out the best in a person. Bring your A game or your B game, your wheels and cam's or your simple stick and string. No matter what you shoot the main thing is to come down and have some fun, hope to see you soon. Karl Happy Holidays from the Lincoln Bowmen Board of Directors! BOD Club Cleaning - The first part of January is Jim Mende, 2nd part is Scott Rhind. Other Work events - Chili Shoot 3D set up, take down 1/17, contact Scott Jackson 3 NEWS LETTER OF LINCOL N BOWMEN
