Page 5 2007 INDY ASGA RULES OF THE COURSE aka Ready Golf On the Tee: The player who is ready, should hit (don t wait un-necessarily- time is fleeting) Shorter hitters should hit first Ladies, if the men are waiting and the Group in front is out of your Range, go ahead and tee off. ( but watch those men hitting from behind you move out of the way sometimes their shots are wayward if you know what I mean) Have everyone in your Group watch where each Tee shot goes (some of us are blind and couldn t see the ball unless we step on it) Always carry an extra ball in your pocket ( it might come in handy when you can t find yours and want to drop one in a really Good spot ) On the Fairway: Take appropriate clubs to your ball (limit to no more than (3), otherwise you might as well take your Bag) Limit lost ball search to (3) minutes ( this could seem like hours, so hurry it up, ok?) Hit when ready (as long as you are out of others way and they are out of yours.of course) Limit your practice shots to (1 or 2), PLEASE. (we don t have all day) On the Green: Place your Cart between the Green and the next Tee (this is to help you not look foolish and rowl the Group behind you who might be waiting on you to move along) Study your Putt when others are putting (but for Pete s sake, c mon you aren t Tiger, so take a peek and then Take Dead Aim (from Harvey Pinnick) Complete your Scorecard at the next Tee (No, not while driving to the next Tee, at the next Tee)
Page 6 2007 INDY ASGA RULES OF THE COURSE, cont. Scoring and other Guidelines: You are allowed to Roll your ball to improve your lie. (this is the best thing I ve heard so far) When reaching Double Par, pick up your ball and record that as your score. ( What? you NEVER score that high?...yeah, Uh-uh, your nose is growin!) When hitting into water, drop ball to nearest area where the ball entered water and take a (1) Stroke penalty ( sorry, we have to be penalized, sometime) When hitting OOB (Out of Bounds this is for you Internet Chat folks), no matter if a Tee shot or Fairway shot, drop ball near area where ball entered OB and take a (1) stroke penalty yep, another one) If ball is lost, drop a ball near area where you think it ended up and take a (1) stroke penalty ( Durn, another Penalty and remember to hurry up the lookin ) And the Best Rule: We DO allow Gimmes The Worst Rule: We DON T allow Mulligans! The BEST-EST Rule of all: RELAX and have some FUN! There s no other game like Golf; you go out with three friends, play eighteen holes and return with three enemies. SPECIAL THANKS: To Susan Petefish for working with the Special Olympics to arrange for our May speaker, Robbie Barnes, and to Skip Jenkins for all his hard work in preparation for the Presentation. YOU GUYS ROCK!
