Bunch 252.426.1900 heandshebunch@yahoo.com Hello Shaggers, It's time to kick off a new and exciting year for River City Shag Club. Thanks to Joan for all of her hard work creating a good foundation for the Club to grow on. Speaking of growing, I would like to see the membership increase in the upcoming year. Ask a friend to come out and join us. Invite a former member to come back. Our free lessons are certainly a valuable part of membership. Let us know of any old or new dance steps you would like to learn or review. We would all like (I hope) to be known as "The Friendly Shag Club". Please greet and introduce yourselves to new faces. Ask people to dance. It's okay to dance with different partners. Variety will definitely improve your dancing or maybe make you appreciate your own partner better. See you on the dance floor, Lenny Peaden, President Come out...bring a friend! River City Shag Club, Inc's July monthly social - RED, WHITE & BLUE!! Time to dance, bring your shag shoes. Both Joan and Cam have served the club with the gifts of their time, talent, and dedication over the past years. They retired this year but are leaving the Board in good hands. We send a heartfelt thank you to Joan and to Cam for jobs Well Done! Joan Moore, Past President Joan has served as President 7 of the past 8 years. During her tenure, and with the Board, Joan s accomplishments were many. During that time she shepherded the club through a move from City Meeting Place to The Pines, and then our recent move from The Pines to La Tiendita. The Club took on a new status as RCSC, Inc. and we became members of the National Fast Dance Association. As President, Joan encouraged us to continue the Classic charitable event traditions. Joan, with Tommy beside her, didn t miss many Wednesday nights, socials or events with sister clubs. We could always count on Joan and Tommy representing us at SOS events too. As if that weren t enough, they still found time to teach us dance steps. We re grateful for Joan s devoted service to all shaggers, especially RCSC. And we re delighted Joan and Tommy will continue to teach us new steps. Cam Rivard, Past Secretary Cam writes the most complete minutes of our meetings. How does she remember all that? Who said what, who first and seconded each decision. Her organization skills are enviable. Every minutes, reminder, and notice was accurate, grammatically correct and on time. The club has greatly benefited from Cam s professionalism. One achievement primarily attributable to Cam is the policy, procedure and responsibilities notebooks put together for the officers. And Cam did all this with good humor and a big smile. We are grateful for Cam s dedication and outstanding contributions during her 5 years of service as Secretary. Dues are Due! Renew your Membership There s still time to renew memberships and pay our annual dues. Renewal dues for full members are $35.00 if paid after June 30. There are no annual dues for Associate Members but the fee for socials is $10. Please bring your renewal membership form and check to the next meeting or mail to RCSC PO Box 426 Camden, NC 27921 3
