If done quickly, then re-try again. You may need to explain and demonstrate each race for the students. Runners must stay behind the line until referee says, "Ready, Set, Go!" Students must go around the cone and come back to tag the next teammate. Award points after each race Race List #1 Skipping, galloping, sliding, hopping, jumping, running backwards, running forwards Race List #2 Bear crawl forwards, bear crawl backwards, crab walk forwards, crab walk backwards, duck walk (squat down and move feet), wheel barrow (have the partners switch half way who is the wheel barrow). Sharks and Minnows 9:00-9:25 Nicklas - AM Q 9:30-9:55 Seliy - AM Q 10:30-10:55 Seibel - AM Q 1:00-1:25 Nicklas - PM Q 2:30-2:55 Seibel - PM Q Get across the ocean without getting tagged by a shark or seaweed Minnows - run from shallow water, across the ocean, to the shallow water on the other side Sharks - capture minnows by tagging them Seaweed - tag minnows as they run by Rules: The sharks must stand in the middle of the ocean The sharks will wear colored pinnies The caller (parent volunteer) will call a random categories If that category matches a minnow, the minnow must run across the ocean If a minnow gets tagged by a shark or seaweed they are seaweed for the rest of the game The caller (parent volunteer) will send everyone to one side When everyone is on one side, you will send them back by calling more categories Seaweed must sit like a pretzel and are not allowed to change positions Seaweed can only move their hands and arms to tag minnows as they go by. When 3 minnows remain, they will become the sharks for the next game Restart the next game with the new sharks and all minnows and seaweed on one side Instructions: Explain game to students when they arrive Class lines up on one side of the ocean. Pick 3 minnows to come to the middle to be sharks. Do not change the rules, it will confuse the students Be a positive, enthusiastic example 5 Pinnies, Cones, and Whistle

Explain each of the individual activities one at a time as the students use the parachute Try to get through as many activities as possible Have the students hold the parachute and not the handles Activities: See Attached Diagrams Fruit Basket Students will stand around the parachute Students will pick up the parachute using their hands Students will place their hands at their side when holding the parachute The shape made by the students holding the parachute is the Fruit Basket Move on to the Umbrella next Umbrella From the fruit basket position say 1, 2, 3, lift Students will raise their hands over their head As they do this then the parachute will go over head like an umbrella Yell out fruit basket, so that the students bring their hands back down to the ground Repeat this activity over a couple of times before moving on Mushroom Have the students go from the fruit basket, to the umbrella, and then finally to the mushroom Students will take the parachute from the air down to the ground. Students will place their hands on the ground Shaped formed by doing this quickly is a mushroom Yell out fruit basket to have the students repeat this activity over again.

Activities: Waves Have the students make small, medium, and large waves by moving their hands up and down Once the students get a hang of making waves then you can have them change speeds of the waves by having the students go slow, medium, and fast. Popcorn Have the students show you the fruit basket position Once in this position place all of the nerf balls on the parachute On the count of three have the students start to make small waves Then increase to medium waves Finally make large waves and try to get all of the balls off the parachute Have the students collect all of the balls and place them back in their bin Repeat the process over again Merry-Go-Around Have the students hold the parachute with one hand Have the students all move in one direction as they move around in a circle pattern You may want to tell the students that we are going to start on the count of three This will get everyone moving at the same time Parachute Whistle Crate of Nerf Tennis Balls Beach Balls
