The Apprved Prvider is respnsible fr ensuring ur service has an Emergency Management Plan (EMP) in place that has cnsidered all relevant risks, includes prcedures fr evacuatin, lckdwn, lckut and shelter-in-place, emergency respnse prcedures and drills and training schedules. Our EMP will be develped by the Apprved Prvider and Nminated Supervisr wh will lead an EMP planning team. We will refer t the Victrian Guide t Develping an Emergency Management Plan as a best practice mdel and tailr the prcedures t ur Service peratins. The Apprved Prvider and Nminated Supervisr is respnsible fr: Identifying the risks and threats that culd prduce an emergency situatin. They will cnduct a risk assessment t identify ptential emergencies that culd affect ur service and use this t prepare emergency and evacuatin prcedures. An evacuatin may be necessary in the event f a fire, chemical spill, bmb scare, earthquake, siege, fld etc. Lcal emergency services will be cnsulted fr advice including lcal fire services, plice, ambulance, lcal gvernment, cmmunity leaders and ther relevant agencies. The advice will include infrmatin abut evacuatin rutes and assembly pints, and take int accunt accessibility fr adults r children with special needs. Develping the EMP which will include: Emergency cntact details fr peple wh have specific rles r respnsibilities under the EMP Cntact details fr lcal emergency services A descriptin f hw we will alert peple t an emergency by siren, bell r whistle Evacuatin prcedures including hw we will assist any child r persn with special needs A map f the service shwing the lcatin f fire equipment, emergency exits and assembly pints Prcesses t ensure staff are trained in ur emergency prcedures Prcesses we will fllw after an incident. Prcedures we will fllw t test ur EMP and familiarise ur children and staff with the EMP. Ensuring the EMP can be easily identified and is accessible. The EMP r a summary f the EMP will be lcated in the labelled flder in the fyer f the Service. Ensuring that visitrs and relief staff are aware f the emergency respnse prcedures. Implementing the EMP including: Disseminating infrmatin abut the EMP and the prcedures relating t emergency management and evacuatin t staff, children, visitrs and families. Families will receive written ntificatin frm the service. We will use infrmal games and discussins t familiarise children with ur evacuatin and emergency prcedures. Scheduling training fr all educatrs and staff. This will include ensuring educatrs are prvided with training n hw t use fire extinguishers, fire blankets and ther emergency equipment. Training may include evacuatin drills, identifying assembly pints and the lcatin f emergency equipment, first aid arrangements and hw t turn ff the electricity and gas supplies. All new educatrs and staff will receive training during their inductin and refresher training fr all educatrs and staff will take place. 2

Emergency Management Plan Prcedures The Apprved Prvider and Nminated Supervisr is respnsible fr implementing the attached prcedures when an emergency situatin arises (Appendix A). Cmmunicatin We will ensure we have access t reliable cmmunicatin channels in the event f an emergency by maintaining access t a telephne (such as fixed-line telephne, mbile phne, satellite phne, 2-way radi, vide cnferencing equipment) at all times. Our main telephne is lcated in the preschl, tddler and nursery, as well as the ffice. If there is a cmplete lss f electricity and the telephnes at the service are nt available, a mbile phne will be prvided and ready t use at all times t ensure educatrs can make emergency cntact. The Nminated Supervisr will als ensure we have a trch and a supply f fully charged batteries. Emergency Cmmunicatin Plan We will ensure all educatrs, staff, visitrs, vlunteers and families are aware f ur emergency evacuatin prcedures thrugh: the display emergency telephne numbers prminently thrughut the service in the fllwing lcatins, including near telephnes r available near mbile phnes the display f evacuatin diagrams based n ur flr plans prminently near each exit The Evacuatin Diagram will include: a diagram f the flr r area a title eg Evacuatin Plan the Yu are here lcatin designated exits in green cmmunicatin equipment and where installed in red hse reels, hydrants, extinguishers in red. designated shelter-in-place lcatin and assembly area. date plan validated. lcatin f assembly areas a legend. 3

The Register is lcated in each rms Health and Wellbeing flder. Emergency and Evacuatin Prcedures and Drills Rehearsal Evacuatin Drill (Every Three Mnths) The service will add t each child s sense f security, predictability and safety, and ensure all educatrs and staff are familiar with ur emergency evacuatin prcedures, by cnducting rehearsal evacuatin drills every three mnths. We will develp a schedule fr cnducting drills fr the different types f emergencies identified in ur EMP. The drills: will take place at varius times f the day and week (rather than always n a Tuesday at 10 am fr example) t ensure all children and staff members get the pprtunity t rehearse. All persns present at the service during the evacuatin drill must participate accrdingly. will be dcumented and assessed against specific utcmes. We will appint an bserver t evaluate ur drills using the checklist at Appendix B. will be immediately fllwed by a debriefing sessin t identify any imprvements that may be made t the prcedures.
