Jennifer Conrad is the newest addition to the Meade County 4-H Volunteer team and is looking forward to meeting her new club members. The club will meet monthly at the Meade County Extension Office from 9:00 am - 11:00 am on the following dates: February 11, March 11, April 15 and May 13. Membership in this club is limited to the first 15 registrations. Membership fee is $10.00 and must be included with registration form. Club members are required to bring an adult chaperone with them to all meetings. The registration form can be picked up at the Extension office or call to have one mailed to you. Upcoming Programs/Events Want to know what is coming up with the 4-H Program? Check out the current events tab on our website and look for the 2016-2017 Program Dates link. Need something added for your club? Call the Extension Office and ask to have your club information added.

What is a 4-H Project? 4-H members participate in projects where they are asked to accomplish a task, i.e., make something, develop a skill, raise and/or train an animal, etc. There are numerous projects available to 4-H members including: foods, clothing, public speaking, aerospace, wood science, livestock, health, gardening, photography, and MUCH MORE! Members DO NOT have to be a member of a project specific club in order to complete a 4-H project. 4-H members begin by exploring their interest. They may select one or more projects, and receive a project manual which guides them through the activities. 4-H projects are age appropriate. The 16 year old 4-H member will be expected to do a more advanced project within their area of interest, whereas the 10 year old might be working with and introductory activity. One of the most important aspects of 4-H project work is that the 4-H member decides what they want to learn and do as they explore their project. This allows the project to be self-paced, and gives children important skills in setting and working toward their goals. NOW is the time to be working on your 4-H projects! All requirements for 4-H projects that can be entered at county fair and are eligible for the 2017 KY State Fair Cloverville can be found on our 4-H webpage at: https://meade.ca.uky.edu/content/2017-4-h-fair-projects-county-state-fairs. 4-H Awards Banquet The theme is what else??? 4-H!!! Each club has their own tab that contains what you need to know to get club meeting dates on your calendar. February is 4-H HEALTH Month! Participate in the "4th H for Health Challenge"!! Meade County 4-H Youth Development is interested in making our county 4-H program healthier, while having fun at the same time!! The 4th H for Health Challenge is an easy program that is available for all members! The challenge helps 4-H ers adopt practices that will help them be healthy now, and in the future. With the three principles of Drink Right, Move More, and Snack Smart, it s easy to teach and reinforce healthy habits. Club leaders will be incorporating these practices into their February meetings, but YOU can participate on your own at home with your family! Using the 4-H for Health Challenge Tracker in the challenge leader's packet below, record at least four dates that you chose to drink water, eat fruits or vegetables or was physically active for at least 15 minutes. At the end of February, bring in your challenge tracker to the office or scan and email to deanakreed@uky.edu to receive participation credit. You will also receive a small 4-H token for completing the challenge and working towards a HEALTHY YOU!
