Outstanding Students U.S. Representative Bill Flores hosted a town hall meeting in McGregor recently. Three MHS seniors attended the event and participated by asking Congressman Flores about the status of the reauthorization of the No Child Left Behind Act. After the meeting, the students presented the Congressman with a McGregor Bulldog t-shirt and cap. Pictured at right are MISD Superintendent Kevin Houchin, Tori Thompson, Rep. Bill Flores, Angela Rost, and Ricardo Solis. Jordan Stroope and Clay Huffman served as delegates to the 75th annual Texas Boys State gathering in Austin. They learned about the workings of government from the city to the state level. The week-long event concluded with a march of approximately 900 participants from the UT campus to the floor of the Texas House of Representatives. Boys Stage is a program of the American Legion A special thanks is offered to the McGregor Rotary Club for sponsoring Jordan and Clay and allowing them to participate in Boys State Class of 2015 valedictorian Hope Lenamon was selected to receive a scholarship from the Texas Interscholastic League Foundation. Hope received The Clark Foundation Scholarship in the amount of $1000 following her appearance at the State UIL Academic Meet as a contestant in the Feature Writing competition. Hope is a freshman at Texas Tech University. Students at McGregor Primary wasted no time in impressing their reading teacher. Mrs. Adcock reported that in less than two weeks, these students learned 100% of their first set of sight words. Mrs. Adcock said she is super proud of these students and that they are reading machines.
