Clangor will be referred to the jumps review panel for assessment. Valediction knuckled after jumping the last hurdle. Clayton Douglas, rider of Mateo, and Tom Ryan, rider of Tambo, were both severely reprimanded for using their whips six times in a forehand manner prior to the 100m. In assessing the penalty, stewards took into account good records of both riders. Clangor and Divi Filius were examined by the Racing Victoria Veterinary surgeon subsequent to the race and no abnormalities were reported.

Race 2 WESTCOAST WILCLEEN BM125 HURDLE - 3226 metres: Steven Pateman was fined a sum of $200 for failing to fulfil his engagement on King of the Gods due to being overweight. King of the Gods & Must Have stood flat footed as the start was effected and lost ground 4L. At the seventh hurdle Royal Butler jumped awkwardly knuckled on landing almost dislodging its rider. Near the 350m Martin Kelly rider of Deltona accidently dropped his whip. Stewards interviewed Steven Pateman along with Des O Keeffe, CEO of the Victorian Jockeys Association, in relation to a large number of weight related offences that Steven Pateman has recorded in the last two years. Stewards advised that they will be working with Mr O Keeffe to find a suitable minimum weight in which Mr Pateman is unable to accept rides under. Mr O Keeffe informed the stewards panel that he would be contacting an expert on weight management issues and together with Mr Pateman, will form a strategy which will allow Mr Pateman to control his weight. Race 3 SCHWEPPES MAIDEN PLATE - 1200 metres: Street Spyder was resaddled behind the starting gates. Street Spyder was slow into stride. Listo Gitano raced wide without cover in the early stages.
