Passing the 200m had to be steadied to avoid the heels of Beau Dazzle (Rose Pearson) which shifted out; Rose Pearson was advised to exercise more care in future. Performed below market expectations. Rider Andrew Mallyon stated his mount had a good run in transit however failed to respond to his riding when placed under pressure from the 600m and in his opinion was very disappointing. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities and a swab sample was taken for analysis. Street Opera - after being fractious in its barrier stall underwent a veterinary examination and was passed suitable to race. Hampered on jumping away. Canterbury Walk (NZ) - on jumping away lost ground when tightened for room between Charles Filou (NZ) and Street Opera which both shifted ground. Charles Filou (NZ) - hampered on jumping away. Race 2 - Watergardens Town Centre Maiden Plate - 1112 metres: Sierra Raider - commenced awkwardly and knuckled resulting in rider Patrick Moloney becoming unbalanced. Bella Missile - restrained at the start from the wide barrier and settled at the rear of the field. Penny Gambler - over-raced in the early and middle stages. When over-racing near the 700m raced up onto the heels of Presidential Joy. Approaching the winning post had to be steadied to avoid the heels of Presidential Joy (Thomas Sadler) which shifted out; Thomas Sadler was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.
I Too Can Dance - raced three wide without cover throughout. Race 3 - Jet Roofing SV 3YO Maiden Plate - 1112 metres: Fast Plan - slow to begin. Callisto Moon - on jumping away shifted out, bumped Snowy Black and became unbalanced. Snowy Black - bumped at the start. Alakay - commenced awkwardly before throwing its head up. Passing the 100m shifted in before being straightened by its rider. Solgaze - when racing keenly passing the 800m, had to be checked to avoid the heels of Dazzys Day (Jake Noonan) which shifted in when not fully clear; Jake Noonan was severely reprimanded and advised to exercise more care in future. Over-raced through the early and middle stages. Single Intent - near the 700m when over-racing had to be steadied when racing close to the heels of Solgaze and as a result lost ground. Raced greenly throughout and made the home turn awkwardly. A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the near foreleg and a veterinary clearance is required prior to racing again. Devocean - raced three wide without cover for the majority of the event. Race 4 - Buds and Branches F&M Maiden Plate - 1462 metres: Ballina Bay - unruly and refused to proceed to the start and was subsequently a late withdrawal by order of Stewards at 2.59pm and the filly must now gain further approval in a jump out prior to racing again. All monies invested on Ballina Bay to be refunded. Deductions applicable to bets placed on winner and placegetters prior to 2.59pm: 0 cent in the dollar for the Win #4, 1 cent in the dollar for place of winner #4, 1 cent in the dollar for second place #10 and 2 cents in the dollar for third place #6. Race 5 - Georgina & Co F&M BM58 Handicap - 1462 metres: Dupe n Vice - commenced awkwardly and lost ground. Lovani - raced keenly in the early and middle stages. Race 6 - Wilson Medic One Rising Stars BM64 Handicap - 1212 metres: Street Stalker - after receiving a report from the Compliance Assurance Team that trainer Ms Kate Goodrich had denied them access to her licensed training premises to inspect the gelding, acting under the provisions of AR8(m), Stewards ordered the withdrawal of the gelding at 2.55pm and an inquiry has been adjourned to a date to be fixed. Exclusive Heights - after making contact with the gate leaving the mounting yard, underwent a veterinary examination behind the barriers and was passed suitable to race. Slow to begin (two lengths). Zoot Suit Riot - on jumping away got its head up when being restrained. Rider Jack Martin stated that in his opinion the gelding was not suited by the slow tempo in the early and middle stages of todays event. Tigidig Tigidig - shifted out in the early part of the home straight which enabled Exclusive Heights to gain a run to its inside. Race 7 - TAC BM58 Handicap - 1112 metres: Sagabella - change of tactics - connections advised would be ridden more forward if circumstances permit; commenced awkwardly and settled at the rear of the field. Shortly after straightening had to be steadied and shifted to the inside to avoid the heels of Ragnar Lodbrok, which was giving ground. Shortly after this had to be steadied outwards to avoid the heel of the weakening Alert Status. Russian Rick - third placegetter; prior to correct weight rider Jack Hill viewed the Stewards film before deciding not to lodge an objection. Near the 50m was bumped by Beau Garcon
which was carried out by Avalon Downs. Restrained at the start and settled in a position worse than mid-field. Rider Jack Hill stated that after over-racing last start, he was instructed to ride the gelding back in the field in an attempt to finish the race off. Bayfury - as the gates were released reared and lost considerable ground (eight lengths) and a warning will be placed on the geldings record. Black Ziggy - rider Anthony Boyd stated his mount did not show its customary early speed and settled further back than anticipated. He further reported the mare didnt feel comfortable in its action and a post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any obvious abnormalities. Race 8 - Barlens BM58 Handicap - 1912 metres: Test A Day - late withdrawal on veterinary advice at 8.59am. Hennybodys - raced wide without cover in the early stages before settling outside the leader passing the 1100m. Lost its near hind plate in running. Bloomerang - an irregular heart rhythm was detected on post race veterinary examination. The gelding must be subject to examination by a veterinarian with specialist qualifications in equine internal medicine, prior to starting in any race or trial. The examination should include echocardiography, electrocardiography at rest and at exercise and any other examination that the examining veterinarian requests. Prior to starting in any race, and pending Stewards receiving a satisfactory veterinary report from the specialist examination, such horses must trial to the satisfaction of Stewards in an organised trial of at least 1000m and have a satisfactory veterinary report that includes the results of cardiac auscultation within thirty minutes of completion of the trial.
