ACADEMICS California public high schools are graded each year by their performance on the California Standards Test or CST. Each school has a goal of scoring 800. Schools are then given a grade on a scale of 1-10. 1 is low, and 10 high. There is no 11. A score of 10 is the highest you can achieve. Schools are actually given 2 scores. The first is a statewide rank that compares all schools regardless of size, money, location, parent education level, or special programs. When compared to the entire state of California, Paloma Valley received a score of 8 out of 10.* The second score takes into account the many factors that make schools different. Schools are then grouped with 99 other schools that have a similar make up to their situation. When grouped with similar schools, Paloma Valley received a score of 10 out of 10.* Again, there is no 11. That is the highest score possible. While the statewide score is significant, the similar schools score balances the playing field to better judge the teaching and learning that occurs at each school. Schools are graded in each subject as well, and for 2010 & 2011 Paloma Valley High School was the number 1 school for United States History in Riverside County. Statewide, Paloma Valley has been in the top 8% each of those years. In 2012 PVHS ranked 7th in Riverside County. There are just under 2000 High Schools in the State of California. NCAA The requirements to accept a scholarship have been increased for the class of 2016. Starting with that class, student athletes must have completed 10 of their 16 core classes before the start of their senior year. The academic planning and 1 on 1 counseling in our basketball program will insure that young men will be given every opportunity to be prepared to accept a scholarship if it is offered. *The chart on the next page shows the performance of Riverside County Comprehensive High Schools as reported by the Press Enterprise, June 2012. All scores are given, but the order was determined by the similar schools rank, and then by API.

Youth Basketball Camp CHARACTER The Paloma Valley Basketball Program has completed over 180 hours of community service each of the last three years. We strive to represent the community of Menifee in the best possible manner, and give back as often as we can. We adhere to game day dress codes, behavioral standards, and strive to support other on campus programs in a positive manner.

The Paloma Valley Basketball Program was extremely supportive of my academics and ensured that I was maintaining not only my work on the basketball court but in the classroom as well. Coach Pfeiffer has done a great job with building the Paloma Basketball Program to where it stands today. Year in and year out Paloma competes and represents themselves well on and off the court. Coach Pfeiffer does a great job with bringing out the best in his players. I have learned a lot through Coach, and I really respect the knowledge he has about the game of basketball. Looking back years from now, Coach Pfeiffer is going to have a pretty accomplished coaching career. I have learned a lot through Coach Pfeiffer and the program he runs, characteristics that I have carried over in my everyday life. Coach P. really cares about his players and where the wind up in life, even years after graduating and playing for coach he still remains a mentor for myself. Drew Madrigal Cal Baptist Baseball Drafted by St. Louis Cardinals Ivan Patterson ACADEMICS The first thing in our A.B.C.s of basketball is academics. My junior year of high school not only did we have the best record in school history, we also had one of the highest G.P.A.s in Riverside County because we had study hall five days a week. BASKETBALL I feel that Paloma Valley Basketball has prepared me for college athletically and academically. I always stressed to carry at least a 3.5 G.P.A. Most of the same drills and basketball concepts that were taught to me were either similar or exactly the same we did in practices at Paloma. CHARACTER Cal Baptist Basketball Our Saturday practices consisted of the whole team volunteering time to help the NJB rookie league teams. Having to be around younger kids and dealing with parents helped my social skills tremendously. The last letter in the A.B.C.s is character. I think character is second in academics; simply a person without good character is never going to go far in anything they do. COACH PFEIFFER Coach Pfeiffer has not only helped coach me to become a better basketball player but most important he helped me to develop into a better person. Having been there to always push me to full potential has made me strive to do my best in not just basketball, but in everything I do. I graduated almost three years ago from Paloma Valley and Coach Pfeiffer is still helping me improve my basketball game.

PVHS basketball was nothing but helpful for both my teammates and me. I was given opportunities to get school work done and was also offered academic help. The Paloma Valley basketball program showed me how to balance my school work load while still being an athlete at the same time. PV Basketball was very instrumental in developing my game for the next level. I really learned the core aspects and fundamentals about the game that are expected of a college level player. The Paloma Valley basketball program taught me how to be mentally strong while playing and also in life. Coach Pfeiffer has been very influential to me and the person I am today. I am a much better person because of him and his program. More than anything I have learned to always do what is right, all the time. I can not say enough about how the program has set me up for success today and in the future. Adam Alfaro Coach Pfeiffer turned the program around in the first year of being at PV. His CSU San Marcos records and statistics show how much of a difference he has been compared to those before him. PV basketball is a legitimate program that has and should always be taken very seriously as long as Pfeiffer is there. Great things were asked of me and m teammates at Paloma Valley but they were never things that we could not accomplish. Coach Pfeiffer just believed in us that much. The PV basketball program will always be a special prestigious club to me. I visit the program often to see what the future has in store. As long as Coach Pfeiffer is there I will do anything for him and his program ash e has been a great mentor to me. I feel that Coach Pfeiffer has made me and all of his players past and present a very close knit family. If I had to refer and incoming athlete to a program I would with out a doubt insist on Paloma Valley. I know for sure that the athlete will not only take great knowledge and skills of the game of basketball but he will also learn to become a very fine young man. Whenever I am around the Paloma Valley basketball program is when I feel I am at my best as a player and as a person. Paloma Basketball holds you to standards that other programs do not. We conducted ourselves as if we were already in college, so when I got to college I already knew what to expect. The competitiveness and instruction instilled in us by the coaching staff helped me for college basketball. The high level of offense and defensive drills made the transition from high school to college easy. To this day Coach Pfeiffer is one of the top two coaches I ve ever played for. He gives everything he has and more while you re in the basketball program and even when you graduate. He teaches more than just basketball skills. He teaches life skills as well. Dionte Goodlett Regis University Basketball PV Basketball is my extended family. People ask me why I always go back to my high school and I tell them I have to give back to those younger than me so they can be better than who I was. Everyone that has played for PV always looks out for one another no matter if it s on the court or off.
