Piedmont High School Girl s Soccer Program Expectations Team Expectations We will build everything about PHS Girl's Soccer from the ground up, with a new way of thinking. The only way to achieve this ideal is, a complete understanding of our roles and a team desire in making it happen. 1. Play fast paced, exciting, attractive and effective soccer. 2. Develop a winning mentality and attitude amongst the whole squad and coaching staff. 3. Embrace an enthusiasm for this experience on and off the pitch. 4. Perform consistently well under pressure. 5. Perform with the same mentality and intensity in practice as in games. 6. Ruthlessly dominate opponents physically and mentally for the entire game. 7. Effective communication is the essence of great teams. Learn from your mistakes, get performance feedback, ask questions, share information, celebrate success and learn from mistakes. Take corrective feedback as a compliment. 7. A quiet inner confidence based on detailed preparation and relaxed aggression. 8. Accept responsibility for outcomes. Look in the mirror first when improvement is required. 9. One voice Do not interrupt coaches, or teammates when they are speaking. 10. A measure of ones character is in their impact on those who they care about. 11. Being an elite athlete involves choices you make on things you have control over attitude and effort. In other words, character issues. 12. Ability to put the team before yourself in every decision. 13. Champions make the right decisions, not necessarily the easy ones. 14. Academic Requirements See PHS handbook. Communication with Coaches. PHS Girl's Soccer players are expected to be able to approach their team captains and/or Coaches with any issues effecting their performance, participation and overall enjoyment of being part of the PHS Girl's Soccer Program. Being able to handle any situations in a mature and adult manner is important to the athlete s holistic growth and is encouraged. If after speaking to the Coach, the player feels the issue has not been resolved, please email the Head Coach and the matter can be taken further, as required. Parent Responsibilities It is important that parents give their full support to the program as a whole. This can range from ensuring your daughter is managing to juggle academics with athletic participation, to attending games to cheer the team on. Coaching from the sidelines by spectators is opposed by the PHS Girl's Soccer program. We ask that parents cheer and celebrate goals scored, but allow the coaches to do the coaching. We also ask that the parents show the same level of Sportsmanship, as is asked of the players. This means showing respect for all opposition, players, fans and officials. Be excellent hosts and visitors, welcoming opposing teams to our games, as well as following any rules set in place when visiting other facilities. Set a good example for your daughter to follow.
