Ashley Ridge High School Cheerleading Expectations 2015-2016 Please review the following expectations prior to try-outs. All cheerleaders must meet these expectations to remain a member of the team(s). 1. All practices are mandatory. You are required to wear appropriate practice clothes, cheer shoes, hair pulled up and off of your face with no jewelry and no gum. The only excused practice is when you have a doctor s note or a death in the immediate family. 2. Missed practices result in missed games and competitions. You are expected to be at each practice. If you are not at practice, you will sit out the next game/competition. If an excess of unexcused absences are accrued, you may be removed from the team. While this is unlikely to happen, 3 or more unexcused absences are grounds for immediate removal from the team. 3. It is your job to be on time to practice and have a ride when practice is over. If you are late to practice, you must run. The same is true if your ride is not on time when practice is over. 4. Should you have an issue, the cheerleader should address it directly with the coach. The cheerleader is responsible for his/her participation on this team and should be accountable for his/her actions and communication with the coach. You cheer for ARHS, not your parents and you should be the one taking care of any problems that arise. You are also responsible for your actions outside of games and practice. Any issues that threaten the reputation of the team and/or school will be handled by the coach. Appropriate consequences for inappropriate behaviors may range from running extra at a practice, sitting out of a game, not being a part of the competition squad (if applicable) and/or removal from the squad. 5. Additional practices and duties may arise. These are required as a part of your job as a cheerleader. 6. Each cheerleader is responsible for selling $450 worth of program ads. This money goes toward buying uniforms, competitions, etc. Any additional money sold past the $450 will be given to the individual cheerleader at 25%. For example, if you sold $550 worth of ads, you made an extra $100. 25% of this is $25 that will go to the individual cheerleader. If you do not sell ads totaling $450, the amount left unsold will be added to your cheer account/bill to be collected at the end of the season/year. All ads must be turned in by the set deadline in order to be counted! 7. For all home varsity games, cheerleaders are required to sell programs. Varsity and JV will be responsible for selling a set number of programs per game. All cheerleaders will be required to sell programs at each home game. When you are at games, you will present yourself in a positive manner whether you are on the field or in the stands. Again, we are building a positive appearance in the community and need your help to set that standard! If a cheerleader is acting/dressed/talking inappropriately at a game, she will sit out the next game. 8. All money must be paid via check. All money must be paid on time.
9. Team practice at ACX is mandatory. Each cheerleader is responsible for paying $45 monthly to ACX for team training. 10. Cheerleaders must maintain a 70 average to remain on the squad. We will run eligibility many times throughout the year. If you are not eligible for grades or behavior, you will not be able to compete per SCHSL rules. 11. Additional money may be required for practice clothes, camps, choreography, etc. and should be paid by the set deadlines. 12. All social media posts (Facebook, Twitter, Vine, YouTube, etc.) will be positive and reflect your position as an ARHS cheerleader. Inappropriate pictures, posts, videos, comments, etc. are not tolerated. 13. Each cheerleader may have one week (7 days) of scheduled vacation. The vacation dates should be turned in to the coach by May 30, 2015 in order to be honored as an excused absence. Please be courteous of the dates that are already excused due to coach s absences and July 4 th when scheduling vacations. (Dates will be published after try-outs) In order for us to be a successful squad, we need full commitment from everyone at each scheduled practice. Attendance will be taken at each conditioning session and practice session. Your commitment to these high standards during the summer conditioning and practice will not go unnoticed when competition season arrives. Remember the saying Hard work beats talent when talent doesn t work! I, will honor and uphold the rules set forth for the 2015-2016 cheerleading team at Ashley Ridge High School. As a cheerleader, it is my job to be a leader at my school and in my community. I will always display a positive image of myself and of the ARHS cheerleading team.
