Seattle is sending veteran RHP Chris Young (0-0, 0.00) out for his second start of the season (third appearance), and seventh career start against the Fish. The Marlins next road trip will see the team embark on a six-game swing to Atlanta (April 21-23) and the Mets (April 25-27). Tonight s National Anthem will be performed by Barby Trujillo. One additional note, the Marlins wish RHP Henderson Alvarez a happy 24 th birthday. AGAINST THE MARINERS The last time these two teams met was in 2011, with Miami dropping two of three in Seattle (Miami was playing as home team due to venue conflict). This series marks only the second visit to South Florida for the Mariners, who last came to Miami in 2005 and took two of three at Dolphins Stadium. Miami trails the overall series with the M s, 4-5. ABOUT WEDNESDAY NIGHT Miami dropped the series finale against the Washington Nationals, 6-3. The Fish scored first, tallying three runs in the SERIES INFO fourth inning on a three-run home run by Derek Dietrich, his third of the year. Jose Fernandez ran his unbeaten streak at home to 17 games by not receiving a decision. Mike Dunn (0-2) was charged with the loss, allowing a pinch-hit home run to Zach Walters to start the rally in the eighth. MARLINS IN INTERLEAGUE Miami went 9-11 against American League opponents in 2013, and have an overall Interleague record of 149-141. The Marlins.514 winning percentage in Interleague Play is the fourth-best among National League teams, behind Atlanta (.530; 148-131), St. Louis (.529; 135-120) and the Mets (.516; 147-138). Despite going 29-42 in Interleague Play TEAM VS. TEAM STATS since 2010, Miami has the most all-time Interleague wins among National League clubs; Atlanta is second with 148. The Fish lead all NL clubs in hits (2,570), runs scored (1,337) and doubles (538); rank second in RBI (1,265) and walks (907), and tied for second in triples (57). The last set of teammates in the Majors to record 34+ RBI through the first 16 games of the season were Prince Fielder (19) and MIguel Cabrera (18) of Detroit, and John Buck (21) and David Wright (14) of the Mets, last season. - STATS, LLC YARD WORK Miami has homered in eight consecutive games (10 total), and has connected for 13 so far this season.
