INTRODUCTION System Desciption and Function 1000S Tank Gauge Installation Instuctions Advanced Telemetics The Advanced Telemetics Model 1000S Digital Tank Gauge is compised of a CPU that connects to an aay of sensing devices that ae sensitive to magnetic poximity. The float o multiple floats ide on the outside of sealed stainless tubing with a sensing element on the inside of the enclosue. The tube is sealed by means of a welded cap on the bottom of the tubing and a CPU head-enclosue on the top. The CPU head-enclosue typically sits a few inches above the top of the tank with a junction box attached to make up connections to othe gauges and a contolle. The gauge is sealed in the tank via a Q245 steel compession fitting and Viton O-ing theaded into coupling enty into the stoage tank. The device tubing, scews, washes, clips, and cabling ae 316L stainless steel. Enclosues ae 6061-T6 billet aluminum with double O-ing seals. Digital Tank Gauges ae designed to povide poduct level and wate inteface levels in inches (and othe fomats) as well as fluid tempeatue below the pimay poduct float. Newe gauges also povide conditional levels, fluid column tempeatues (load, medium, high), and moe. An optional 3d float povides a high-level alam cicuit that is discete and fully independent fom the sensing aay. Communication The Model 1000S Digital Tank Gauges communicate via RS485 and switch automatically between potocols. The suppoted communication potocols ae Tank Gauge ASCII, MODBUS ASCII, o MODBUS RTU. Each gauge esponds to a pogammable unique MODBUS addess. Details on potocols and a list of commands ae in the appendices. Symbol Key Safety Infomation Impotant Infomation Octobe 2016 Page 3

Advanced Telemetics 1000S Tank Gauge Installation Instuctions Modbus Registes Intemediate Please note: Advanced Telemetics is constantly adding new functionality and impoving on fimwae and softwae. Sensos poduced in late 2016 and fowad contain fimwae evision 2.053 o geate, adding vaious functions and egistes that may not be found on olde sensos. New functionality in evision 2.053 ae as follows: The ability to ead aveage, top, middle, and load line tempeatues in Fahenheit using the multiple temp sensos pesent on the electonics aay. The ability to use conditional egistes that use logic to detemine whethe a tank might be empty, o whethe it might be a wate tank, and adjust values slightly to eflect those scenaios. These egistes automatically zeo out an empty tank (instead of eading aw float values that ae influenced by the float shape), and to zeo out pad thickness in a wate tank. The ability to ead altenate egistes fo vaious convesions, including inches, /inches,, and metes. Temp convesions include Celcius and Kelvin. 1000S Tank Gauge Installation Instuctions Advanced Telemetics Modbus Registes Advanced Following is a full list of egistes available fo use on the Model 1000S Digital Tank Gauge with fimwae evision 2.053 and above. Some impotant notes on advanced egiste functionality: 1. Most egistes ae available in intege AND floating point fomat, but ae located in diffeent aeas of the Modbus map. Pe necessity, many intege values equie ae displayed as value*100, and may equie additional intepetation by a contolle o SCADA fo meaningful data. 2. Most level eadings ae available in inches, /inches, and metes, while aveage temps ae available in Fahenheit, Celsius, and Kelvin. Special temps (Top, Mid, Load) ae available in Fahenheit only. 3. Offset egistes all ovewite each othe. Witing to one offset egiste (in inches, fo instance) will also change the offset egistes fo othe unit convesions, such that they all agee. 4. egistes use basic logic to zeo out levels on an empty tank, zeo wate level in a poduct tank with less than 3.5 of wate, and equalize the poduct level in a wate tank with less than 6.5 of poduct. Please be awae these ae calculated estimations, and that using tue poduct/wate levels is always the most consevative way to intepet levels in a tank. 5. Using offsets on poduct o wate levels will affect/disable the function of the conditional egistes! egistes use the egula output inches of the senso fo thei calculations, which means adding offsets will disable the built-in values used to zeo calculations. Consult manual fo moe infomation egading offsets. They should almost neve be needed. 6. Thee ae gaps in the egiste map eseved fo futue development and fo functions that ae cuently unde development. Advanced Modbus Registes ae listed on the following pages, fo use with fimwae vesion 2.053 and above.
