Action Attendees: Dave Miller (DM), Sam Heath (SH), Phil Gordon (PG), Tracy Edmundson (TE), Luke Green (LG), Steve Allford (SA) Apologies: (MW), Melvyn Ashton (MA), Dave Duddles (DD) 1 Minutes of last meeting The minutes of the virtual meeting on 11 th December were agreed as an accurate record. There were no formal minutes from the meeting on 22 nd January. However, the notes were read out and accepted as representative of the meeting. 2 Matters arising These are dealt with under the appropriate section. 3 RFU Structured Season 4 NLD Structured Season 5 National RFU Cups M3EN has 13 teams this season so there will be three clubs relegated from this league. It is unlikely that this will cascade down into M4EN. Due to weather issues some clubs now have league matches in May. The draft season for 2018-19 has been published. This shows that there will be a potential pinch point at the end of the season due to a late Easter. All of the SF matches have now been determined. Finals Day: 28 th Apr (at Boston). The NLD senior squad have withdrawn from the County Championship for this season. The competition is now up to the Final (National QF) stage. All these matches will take place on 17 th March. Newark were defeated by Whitchurch in the Intermediate Cup SF. Long Eaton are in the Senior Vase Final and will visit St Ives. Bourne will entertain Eccleshall in the Junior Vase Final after defeating North Hykeham. (PMN: both Long Eaton and Bourne lost their Finals) Bakewell, Bingham, Mansfield Woodhouse, Matlock, Ollerton, Stamford and Tupton all conceded matches so will not be invited to take part in next seasons competition. NLD clubs are being balloted on whether they think that the National RFU cups are a worthwhile event as there is a suggestion that they could be cancelled. 6 ort There were no matters arising from the previous MDOC meeting. 7 League Reports Bakewell have decided to drop out of the leagues for this season, take voluntary relegation and restart next season at the level below. This means that all of their results have been expunged and M2E(N) now has eleven clubs. There have been seventeen walkovers conceded by NLD clubs so far this season. 5 at L8, 3 at L9 and 9 at L10. Two clubs have conceded three times and one of these is in danger of breaching the 25% cry-off rule which may trigger an RFU investigation. Another club has conceded four times so are already in breach of this regulation. Three other clubs have conceded twice. Bakewell, Belper, Kesteven and Moderns have all had points deducted for ineligible players. In two of these cases the clubs decided to appeal the decision, although there was no chance of success (there were also two unsuccessful appeals for the same reason

8 NLD Knockout Cups last season). If clubs are facing fines or points deductions for breach of regulations it is recommended that they consult either Steve Allford or Dave Miller who will be able to advise on the likelihood of the success of an appeal before the clubs pay the appeal fee. There is a concern that one or more clubs may drop out of the current M5E(N) league for next season making it unviable. Clubs at L8-10 have been presented with various options as to what could happen in this situation and asked for their preferences. Clubs wanting to join the RFU leagues for next season have been asked to express an interest. An expression of interest in joining the has been received by Yorkshire Main RUFC but they have been advised that they should apply to join Yorkshire rather than NLD due to their geographical location. The current Shield trophy has no space for further winner s details to be added so a new trophy needs to be acquired. This is underway. The trophies need to be obtained from last season s winners; Cup: Derby Shield: Melbourne Plate: Buxton Vase: Bourne Finals day is planned for Sat 28 th April. However, the Shield will not be able to be played on this date as Matlock have a re-arranged league match. An alternate date and venue needs to be found for this. The suggestion is that it is played midweek on the AGP at Derby. Suitable dates need to be investigated. In order to fill the gap it may be possible to play a Ladies match. This needs to be investigated urgently. (PMN: This is not practical so the day will be a 3 match schedule) NB TE TE SA MA TE / LG TE / NC Running order for a 3 match schedule will be; 11:30: Vase 13:30: Plate 15:30: Cup 9 Domestic Cups Nottinghamshire Knockout Competitions 10 Merit Tables No report. Fixtures are progressing but there are issues with congestion that may affect the finals days. Senior finals day will be at Nottingham on Sat 31 st Mar. Junior finals day will be at Nottingham on Sun 29 th Apr. There will be four matches on each day. Lincolnshire Knockout Competitions Finals day will be Monday 7 th May at TBC and there will be three finals. Derbyshire Knockout Competitions 11 Referees No issues to report. Finals day will be at Long Eaton on Saturday 5 th May and there will be four matches. Most of the competitions are now at the SF stage.

Representative 12 Women No Report. 13 Any other business 14 Future meetings In general terms, it is now expected of all RFU Committees that Declarations of Interest must be made where appropriate, even where such appropriateness is marginal. This expectation will also apply to this Committee. The potential for a 24/7s event at Derby was discussed. There was a concern that this could impact on the event that already takes place at Casuals. Derby are already consulting with the RFU on this potential event. There was a brief discussion on what the aims and ambitions of the Committee were. It was agreed that for the immediate future efforts should be centred on stabilising the NLD Knockouts and keeping them as an event that clubs want to take part in. In tandem the possibility of a supporting women s tournament should also be investigated. Next meeting will be Monday 11 th June, 7:30 start. Venue, NLD Office, Newark.
