FISH BITES The Marlins continue a nine-game, 10-day road trip tonight with the second game of a three-game series against the Los Angeles Dodgers. Is the last leg on the trip, having split a two-game set at Yankee Stadium, getting swept in a four-game series at Milwaukee, and dropping the first game of this set. After Thursday's day off, begin a six-game homestand on Friday with three games against Colorado followed by a three-game series vs. Philadelphia. YESTERDAY'S RECAP Miami dropped its season-high fifth straight game with 2-1 defeat at Dodger Stadium. LHP Jarlin Garcia held the Dodgers to just four hits and one run over 6.0 IP with a career-high seven strikeouts. 3B Brian Anderson drove in 2B Starlin Castro with the Marlins' lone run in the contest on an eighth-inning single. SCORING CHANGE Major League Baseball today announced a scoring change in Miami's game on April 21 at Milwaukee. The Brewers' Eric Sogard was credited with an RBI-double to left field off of Kyle Barraclough in the bottom of the eighth inning. That ruling has been changed to an error on left fielder Derek Dietrich. Barraclough has had a hit and an earned run removed from his line, giving him six hits allowed (.171 avg. against) and a 2.79 ERA (9.2 ip/3 er) on the season. vs. THE DODGERS The Marlins went 1-6 vs. the Dodgers in 2017, their worst single-season winning percentage against Los Angeles. Went 6-1 vs. LAD the previous season in 2016. Went 1-3 in their lone visit to Chavez Ravine last year, but are 6-4 in their last 10 contests here, dating back to May 13, 2015, including a four-game sweep in Los Angeles for the first time in Franchise history. Miami trails the all-time series, 86-104, going 42-52 in Los Angeles all-time. REALMUTO RAVINE J.T. Realmuto has hit safely in all 17 career games vs, the Dodgers (.400/24x60). According to the Elias Sports Bureau, is the second-longest hitting streak vs. the Dodgers to begin an MLB career since 1900, behind only an 18-game run by San Francisco's Jim Davenport from April 15-Sept. 1, 1958. Is the longest current hitting against the Dodgers among active players. Is the third-longest hit streak to open a career against an opponent in Club history: Luis Castillo 23-game streak against Tampa ON-BASE PERCENTAGE Bay from 1999-2003 and Marcell Ozuna's 21-game streak against Tampa Bay from 2013-17. Has hit safely in each of his 11 games at Dodger Stadium, the longest active streak among MLB players, and tied with four others for seventhlongest hitting streak to begin a career at Dodger Stadium by a visiting player (longest since Buster Posey hit in 13 in-a-row from 2009-11). Have had 10 of their 22 games decided by three runs or less this season. Over his first three Major League starts, Jarlin García has combined to allow just five hits and one run in 17.0 IP. Is first pitcher in Club history with four-or-fewer hits and one-or-zero runs in each of his first three career starts; first pitcher in MLB to do so since fellow southpaw Eduardo Rodriguez in 2015. - Elias Sports Bureau Five hits combined over his first three career starts is lowest total in Club history, besting Brad Hand (2011), Josh Beckett (2001), Josh Johnson (2005-'06), and Vladimir Nunez (1999), who all had nine. García is first starter in MLB to have five-or-fewer combined hits over first three career starts since fellow lefty Cory Rasmus in 2014. - Elias Had not allowed a run over his first 14.0 innings as a starter, a streak snapped by Kiké Hernández s fourth-inning HR in last night's loss. In his first career start, tossed 6.0 no-hit innings April 11 against the Mets at Marlins Park, becoming the only pitcher in Marlins history to go as many as 6.0 innings in his starting debut without allowing a hit (Elias) and the first Major League pitcher to throw 6.0-or-more no-hit innings in his first career start since Ross Stripling of the Dodgers on April 18, 2016 at San Francisco (7.1 ip). In his second start on Tuesday, held the Yankees hitless until a one-out double in the fifth, finishing with 5.0 scoreless innings and just the one hit allowed. Snapped a streak of 38 consecutive batters faced without allowing a hit. According to Elias, his 10.0 IP hitless streak to begin his career as a starting pitcher tied the Modern Era (since 1900) record (also the St. Louis Browns Bobo Holloman, 10.0 IP in May 1953, which included a 9.0-inning no-hitter in his first career start on 5/6/53 vs. Philadelphia. Holloman had made four prior career relief appearances). Additionally according to Elias, Garcia s 10.0-inning hitless streak was tied for the second-longest in Marlins history (Armando Benitez-11.0IP in Aug.-Sept. 2004; Al Leiter-10.0IP in May 1996; Kevin Brown-10.0IP in June '97; and Anibal Sanchez-10.0IP in Sept. '06). Overall this season, is holding hitters to a.114 (10x88) average with a 1.00 ERA (27.0 IP/3 ER) in five appearances (three starts). BLUE STEEL Starlin Castro has hit Dodgers pitching especially well in his last 10 games at Dodger Stadium, posting a.405 average (.15x37) with two doubles and four RBI dating back to 2013. He leads all active players (min. 35 PA) since 2013 in average at Chavez Ravine, in front of Albert Pujols (.395) and Josh Harrison (.391). He has a six-game hitting streak overall vs. the Dodgers (.545; 12x22). MINOR MATTERS Double-A Jacksonville OF Austin Dean on Monday was named Southern League's Player of the Week for April 16-22. Dean, selected by Miami in the fourth round of the 2012 draft, hit.520 (13x25) with three doubles, one triple, two home runs, six runs scored, and six RBI in seven games. He entered today leading the Southern League in average (.525), hits (31) and OBP (.576). Jacksonville has tallied a weekly honor in each of the first two weeks of the season ( Jeff Brigham was named Pitcher of the Week for April 5-15). FACTS OF LYFE The Marlins partnered with local Miami lifestyle company LYFE Brand, bringing a special T-shirt collection to Marlins fans.
