FISH BITES The Marlins conclude a three-game series against the Los Angeles Dodgers today at 1:10 p.m. The homestand began with Miami dropping two of three to the Philadelphia Phillies. This afternoon, the Fish will send RHP José Ureña to the mound for his second career start and third appearance against the Dodgers, going 0-1 with one save and a 1.35 ERA. He will be facing the Dodgers' RHP Kenta Maeda, who gave up four runs on seven hits in his only career start against the Marlins, April 28 at Chavez Ravine. Today's national anthem will be performed by the Rachel Osinoff, while ceremonial first pitches will be thrown by City of Miami Fire Chief Maurice Kemp, first-ever Puerto Rican Olympic gold medalist Monica Puig and Denis Testa from Hialeah Park Racing & Casino. The first 5,000 kids will receive a Marlins Kids Stars & Stripes Batting Sleeve, presented by SeaWorld. The Fish came into this homestand after returning from a 1-6 road trip to New York (1-3) and Cleveland (0-3), marking their worst road swing of seven-or-more games since going 1-6 against Colorado (1-2) and San Diego (0-4) from August 15-21, 2011. Upon conclusion of this series, Miami will hit the road again, going on a six-game trip to Atlanta (Sept. 12-14) and Philadelphia (Sept. 16-18). LAST NIGHT VS. LOS ANGELES Jeff Francoeur broke up the Dodgers perfect-game bid in the eighth inning with a single off the glove of a leaping Corey Seager, and Dee Gordon added a single in the ninth in Miami s 5-0 loss to Los Angeles. Dodgers pitchers retired the first 23 Marlins in order before Francoeur s two-out single. Adeiny Hechavarria reached on an error to lead off the ninth, and two batters later Gordon singled to give the Marlins their only scoring threat of the evening. Tom Koehler (9-11) was tabbed with the loss, allowing four runs on six hits (three home runs) and two walks while striking out four over 5.0+ innings. UP NEXT Following this afternoon's tilt, the Marlins will take off to Atlanta to start a six-game road trip and three game series tomorrow at 7:10 p.m. Miami has gone just 4-8 against the Braves this season, which includes a 3-4 mark at Turner Field. The Fish trail the all-time series in Atlanta, 75-122, and also trail the overall series, 163-226. MARLINS PARK STILL PLAYING BIG Marlins Park has seen 105 home runs this season, an average of 1.51 per game, which would factor out to 123 over the course of the season. The 120 home runs would mark the most in Marlins Park history, ahead of 113 in the inaugural season of 2012. The 2015 campaign saw 111 home runs, followed by 104 in 2014 and 84 in 2013. STRENGTH AT HOME Miami has been one of the better teams in the National League at home since April 21, amassing a 34-28 record, ranking sixth among NL teams. The pitching staff has recorded a 3.24 ERA in that span, ranking third behind the Cubs (2.65) and Dodgers (3.14). Miami s.234 average against ranks fifth, behind the Cubs (.198), Dodgers (.221), Nationals (.229) and Mets (.231). WHERE THE WEST WAS WON Miami has gone 19-12 (.613) against National League West opponents this season, marking the second-best record of any NL team against the Division, behind only the Pittsburgh Pirates, who have gone 22-11 (.667). The Marlins.613 winning percentage against the West this season is the second-best in Franchise history, behind a 1994 team that went 19-11 (.633). Miami has played better against non-nl East opponents in 2016, going 40-25 combined against the Central and the West. However, against the NL East and the American League, the Fish have gone 30-47.
