All anchorages are covered by the Cruising guide to Indonesia by Andy Scott, and it is strongly recommend each boat has a copy. Some anchorages are also referenced in 101 Anchorages within the Indonesian Archipelago 2. Note the anchoring depths it is the skipper s responsibility to anchor suitably & ensure their boat safety. 3. Currents & tides through the Lombok straits can be strong (up to 7 knots) and predominantly flow south with a short period of slack water & north flow. Strength & timing depends on the monsoon season and the moon. 4. All anchoring and sailing choices are those of the individual boat skipper. All care on navigation, anchoring, crew and boat safety is the responsibility of said skipper & crew.
Sunday 21 st May Start Benoa A gentle 12 nm sail/motor Finish Nusa Lembongan 008 40.71 S 115 26.15E Well kept moorings available or anchor in 9-12 m, fair to good holding. Calm and well protected in the SE trades. Many day visitors leave by 3pm (can t imagine after the presentation that many of us will be there before 3pm), then moorings become available. Fine dining in hotels & local restaurants. A text/email will be sent on where the meeting place is that night around 4 pm in the afternoon. Monday 22 nd May Tuesday 23 rd May Start Nusa Lembongan 38 nm from Benoa/28 from Nusa Lembongan Finish Bangko Bangko 008 43.19 S 115 51.16 E Well protected in SE trades. Anchor in 20-26 on sand with good holding. World class surfing at Desert Point 2 k s from Bangko-Bangko. Basic restaurants at Desert Point. Local sailing boats on beach used for fishing Sunset drinks on Kondili Monday evening. A place for dinner and the night s festivities will be decided over a vino or beer. Tuesday will be a relaxing day to enjoy this beautiful local spot, or we may decide to relocate to the nearby Gille Gede which has more facilities & restaurants. To be decided on Monday night. Wednesday 24 th May Start Bangko Bangko/Gili Gede 16 nm Finish Senggigi 008 29.89 S 116.02.66 E Anchor in 10-18 m on sand, good holding. 2 anchoring positions 4 or 6 mooring generally available. Test the lines. Also Bay.5 nm to south can be used, anchor on 9-12 m sand. Can get rolly in swell. Alternative location could be Teluk Kombal. Floating jetty, many restaurants, bars & night life establishment. Volunteer needed to check out place for sunset drinks & to notify all participants. Depending on boats returning to Benoa and/or Nusa Lambongan, on Saturday or Sunday, a farewell dinner will be organised at a venue to be advised.
