BOBCAT PRiDE Northeastern School District February 5, 2016 We had a very successful weekend with two of our high school band students. The weekend started at Manheim Township High School with Graceann Temple and Ona Sutton participating in the PMEA Lower District 7 Band Festival where all students re-auditioned for PMEA Region V State Band. Both of our Bobcats successfully moved on to the next level with Graceann defending her first chair first alto sax spot and Ona moving up to first chair on the contrabass clarinet with her re-audition. The ladies will now have an opportunity to study under the baton of Dennis Glocke, Director of Concert Bands at Penn State University at the Region festival held at Central York High School March 10-12, 2016. We are very proud of the accomplishments of these fine young student musicians and excited for the wonderful experiences they will be having by participating in these select festivals Last evening, Graceann participated in the weather-rescheduled auditions for PMEA District 7 Jazz Band and, for the second year in a row, successfully auditioned for one of only 4 alto sax spots! Graceann improved her seating from last year and is now sitting first chair in the B band. She will be studying under composer, saxophon- Shallow Brook 6th grader Shannon Vanada gave a special gift to every one of her classmates this past holiday season. Ms. Owings 4th grade class (S.F.I.) and Ms. Hare's Kindergarten class at Orendorf worked together to count to 100, make a necklace, and make the number 100. Here are some pictures from their activity.
Students from Miss Loughman's Kindergarten class and Mr. Kochenour's 5th Grade class celebrated with the 100th Day of school by finding 100 pieces to create multicolored necklaces. Students sorted all 100 pieces by color, counted by 10's, made tally marks, drew Base-10 blocks, and created a bar graph to represent the amount of each color was on their necklace. After all that learning, students needed a snack. They didn't have to look far, as their snack was hanging on their neck! Happy 100th Day of School!!
