Men s Golf Society ON BEHALF OF the Hampton Hall Men s Golf Society (MGS), welcome to Hampton Hall Club. The MGS was established to enhance the golf member experience by stimulating camaraderie and sportsmanship through a golfing environment that offers friendly competition within the Society as well as in inter-club events. Men s Golf Society Membership Membership in the MGS allows you to participate in all MGS events throughout the year. The annual membership fee for 2018 is $35 annually and is reduced by 50% for those joining after July 1. This annual fee may change as necessary. Please contact any board member or individual listed on page 11 for a Membership Application. Let us know if you have questions regarding MGS membership. MGS Reserved Tee Times The MGS reserves morning tee times for members on Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday. The preferred way to sign up for MGS events, as well as all tee times and events, is to register through the Hampton Hall Club website. www.hamptonhallclubsc.com 8
After entering your member login information, select Book a Tee Time, select the appropriate day and look for the MGS event. In addition to event and tee time registration, the website also provides other useful information such as cart path restriction, pin placement, and a schedule of upcoming events. You can also call the Golf Shop to sign up. tee times for the Saturday event must be by noon on Friday as the teams are made up at that time. Late cancellations or no shows will result in the loss of the entry fee. Brent Carlson, Head PGA Golf Professional, will reach out to each new member and schedule a general orientation. The orientation assists new members in navigating the handicap system, online tee time system, check in, group play and other useful information. MGS Weekly Events SATURDAY: Saturday is the main MGS event of the week and is a great venue for meeting many of the other MGS members. Tee times typically start between 8:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. Sign up by adding your name to the MGS Saturday event shown when you click on Book a tee time on the Hampton Hall website. A wide variety of games are played on Saturday with groups determined by both tee preference and handicap. Our Golf Staff assigns foursomes based on your selected tees (white, combo, gold, forward) and handicap. There is a $10 entry fee for which winners will receive Golf Shop credit. If compatible with the weekly game, an optional $5 skins game and closest to the pin may be available. Cancellations of WEDNESDAY: The fun group and low handicap group play on Wednesday morning. The fun group is designed for golfers who want to play less competitive golf. The game changes from week to week and the Golf Staff assigns foursomes based on tees and handicap. The low handicap group provides a more competitive playing environment for our membership. The low handicap game is two man teams with one gross and one net score. Sign up by Monday noon for that week s event. While any MGS member can sign up for the low handicap group, the maximum number of strokes given is 14 (i.e. no strokes are given on any par three holes). Why am I using a new putter? Because the last one didn t float too well. Craig Stadler 9
THURSDAY: There is one group that plays on Thursday mornings; tee times may vary. Sign up by Wednesday at noon for that week s event. Foursomes are determined on the driving range before the first tee time by a random selection of golf balls thrown down by participants; however, final teams are not determined until after play by drawing cards. Format is a Stableford-like points game. Major Club Events The MGS assists with the major Club wide events during the year including Member/Guest, Member/Member, Inter-Club and Hampton Hall leagues as well as a variety of other competitive and fun events including the Hole-in-One Club. Among the other events sponsored by the MGS are two Saturday pre-tournament breakfasts per year and at least one Skills Contest per year. All of these offer a great opportunity to meet other MGS members. You will find a complete MGS member list, phone numbers, calendar of events for the year and other information relating to the golf experience on the Hampton Hall Club website. Golf is twenty percent mechanics and technique. The other eighty percent is philosophy, humor, tragedy, romance, melodrama, companionship, camaraderie, cussedness, and conversation. Grantland Rice 10

Any exception to this posting requirement is posted in the Golf Shop prior to the event. Put your score card for all Hampton Hall Club rounds played in the file near the computer in the posting room following posting. Individual Handicap Maximum Score permitted on any hole 9 or less double bogey 10 through 19 7 20 through 29 8 30 through 39 9 40 or more 10 USGA Reference Guide: Adjusting Hole Scores Incomplete holes or conceded strokes if a player picks up on a hole or is conceded a stroke, record the most likely score that would have been made. This most likely score is the number of strokes (including penalty strokes) taken thus far, played under the Rules of Golf, plus the number of strokes needed to complete the hole from that point more than half the time. An x should precede the score on the scorecard for this hole score (e.g. x5). Holes not Played When a hole is not played, or not played under The Rules of Golf, the score entered for handicap purposes is par (for this hole) plus any handicap strokes the player is entitled to, based on their Course Handicap. Acceptable Scores for Handicap purposes Post scores when at least 7 holes are played (7 to 12 holes are posted as a 9 hole score) while 13 or more holes are posted as an 18 hole score. 17

Pace of Play Time Standards This pace of play policy requires the Club to post and distribute the following table. The table provides the time that each group should be at each tee and ready to tee off to support the expected Hampton Hall Club pace of play standards. The chart below reflects a 4 minute restroom break after holes 4,12 and at the turn when golf carts are allowed on the fairway. Cart restrictions add 1 minute per restricted hole. This Pace of Play Policy has been established for the enjoyment of all golfers. If the group ahead is playing on pace please be considerate of them even if your group has the ability to play faster. Here are a few suggestions to help your group maintain its pace of play: Your group should be at your starting tee at least 5 minutes before your tee time. Play ready golf-defined as doing your pre-shot routine while another is hitting their ball. Keep within 2 shots of the group in front of you. When playing Carts on Path, take two or three clubs with you to your ball. Size up your putt while another golfer is putting, without disrupting their putt or line.
