SUPERHERO FIELD DAY 2016 Grades 3-6 Event Description Equipment 1 SUPERHERO LAUNDRY DAY -They would line up one behind the other. -On GO first student in line runs to laundry basket and basket of pins, pick up a pinnie and two pins. They then hang the pinnie up on their line and run back to their team. They will high five the next person in line who will go do the same thing. The first team to get 15 shirts on the line will win. Pinnies are not allowed to be hanging by only one pin!!! Those pinnies will not count towards their 15. Have them do the same thing in reverse to clean up their space. 2 SPIDEY OBSTACLE COURSE -Students line up behind their starting cone. -On GO students run through the course: spin around 3 times with their head on the bat, drop the bat, run through the tire course, crawl under hurdle, jump over small hurdles, roll the dice. Whatever number they get they can choose to bounce the ball on the racquet that many times or they can jump rope that many times. They end by jumping over the final hurdle. They will then sprint back to their team. -High five next person who will do the same thing. -The first team to have all their members return to the line AND SIT DOWN wins. ONE VOLUNTEER SHOULD WATCH TO MAKE SURE STUDENTS DO 10 BOUNCES ON THE RACKET AND SPIN ON THE BAT 3 TIMES. 3 GATHER YOUR SUPER COLORS! 4 teams. Each team stands behind their team color dome. A bunch of domes should be randomly scattered around the play area. Under the domes are random color bean bags in addition to koosh balls. One person per team will run to the play area and turn over ONLY ONE cone. If the item under the dome is THEIR COLOR BEAN BAG, they get to keep that bag and bring it back to their team. If not, they put the dome back down and return to their team. They will high five the next person on their team signaling their turn. The first team to find 5 bean bags of their color wins. If a student finds the only bean ball, that counts towards their bean bags. ANYONE is allowed to find and keep this ball. Have students place their bean bags under domes one team at a time. Then SWITCH their team color for round 2! Students who look into the domes are CHEATING! Whatever dome they go to first is the dome they have to lift. 4 KRYPTONITE CLEAN UP -4 teams -Tennis balls are kryptonite and cannot be touched with hands. -The object of the activity is to get rid of all the kryptonite without touching it with your hands. Laundry basket 50 pinnies 40 clothes pins 2 baseball bats 12 tires 2 rackets 4 hurdles Small yellow hurdles 2 jump ropes 2 dice 5 blue bean bags 5 green bean bags 5 yellow bean bags 5 red bean bags 30 domes 1 bean ball (wild card) 4 small hula hoops 4 lacrosse sticks 50 tennis balls

-One person per team uses a lacrosse stick to scoop up a tennis ball and put it in jug. -When all of the balls are gone, the team with the most tennis balls wins. -Remind students if they do not get the balls in their hoops, they cannot use their hands. They still need to use their lacrosse sticks. 5 CAPTAIN FLAG! -NO TEAMS -Everyone will have scarves (flags) hanging out of their waistband or pocket. IT MUST BE VISIBLE AND ACCESSIBLE. -On GO all students start to move around the play area. -Students will try to pull scarves out. -If your flag is pulled, you have to pick it up, move to a hula hoop, do 10 exercises of your choice, then rejoin the game. -After 3 minutes, change roles. 6 BATTLE LAUNCHER -Split the teams into two groups. -Each group gets a balance net. -Teams must move the ball from the starting line to the finish by transferring it from one balance net to the other. -Once it has been transferred, the team that successfully transferred it moves ahead so they can receive the next pass. -If the ball drops, place it back on the balance net that it was just on. 7 CONE DOMINATION -TEAM TAKE DOWN VS TEAM LIFT OFF (One team will have to wear pinnies) -In this event, TEAM TAKE DOWN has the job of knocking down cones. TEAM LIFT OFF has the job of putting them back up. -On GO students do their team task. At the end of two minutes, count the cones to see which group was more successful: TAKE DOWN OR LIFT OFF. -Volunteers should then change the student s jobs. Team Take Down becomes Team Lift Off, etc. -You may change the locomotor skill to make it more interesting in rounds two and three. Have them skip, hop, crab walk, etc. **Note: Do not allow students to use their feet to kick over cones only hands may be used to knock the cones over and put them up. ALSO, students on team take down must lift the cone up and then drop it. They are not allowed to just tip it over. The cone must leave the ground. 8 THOR HAMMER THROW -3 teams -One person per team goes at a time -They will throw the hammer in an effort to hit a bulls eye (poly spot) -Wherever the TOP of the hammer lands is what counts, NOT the handle. -Count up points after each student has gone. -Once everyone has completed their throw, tally up team points to determine a winner. Scarves Hula Hoops 6 balance nets 3 balls (gator skin) Cones for starting and ending points Cones Pinnies 3 hammers 3 large hula hoops 3 small hula hoops 3 poly spots Clip board Pencil

9 NINJA TURTLE PIZZA RELAY -4 teams -Students will line up behind their color cone. -First student in line will take one pizza box and run to the end of the course and back. They will hand off the box to the next person in line who will add an additional box and run through the course. -Play continues until the boxes fall. At which time the team restarts with one box. -The team able to complete the course with the most boxes wins. 10 INCREDIBLE POTATO SACK RELAY -3 teams -Students will line up behind a team cone. -Student one starts in their sack standing in their hula hoop. -On GO the first student hops down around the cone and back. Their final jump should be in the hoop that they started in. -At that point, they get out of the sack and hand it to the next person in line. -The first team to get all of their members back and seated behind their team cone wins. (If teams are down one person, have one team member go twice.) 11 EARTH BALL -Giant soccer ball in the middle of the playing area. -NO BOUNDARIES. Students are split into two teams with designated end zones. -Pick up the gator skin balls and throw them at the giant ball in the hopes of moving it toward the opponents end zone. -Once the entire ball has crossed into an end zone, the team that accomplished it wins. -Students are not allowed to block the ball with their bodies. 12 AQUAMAN RELAY -Each lines up behind their bucket of water -Person 1 dips the sponge into the bucket then passes the wet sponge over their head to the next person in line, who then passes the sponge under their legs to the next person. -It continues in this fashion (over/under) all the way to the end of the line. When the last person gets the sponge, they run to a bucket and squeeze the water out, then run back to the start to dip the sponge again. -A different student should be squeezing out the water each time. -HIP students can transfer them under only (so they don t ruin their implants!) 13 BUILD GOTHAM CITY -There will be a bunch of cup stacking cups in a pile. -Create 2 teams -One person at a time will grab a cup, run towards the sidewalk, and place the cup down. They will then run back and high five the next person in line who will do the exact same thing. -The goal is to build the highest Gotham City they can. -They may need time to strategize to determine the best method of achieving this goal. -Teams continue until there are no cups left. SO MANY PIZZA BOXES Cones 3 cones 3 hula hoops 3 potato sacks Gator skin balls Giant soccer ball Endzone markers 2 buckets Water 2 Sponges 2 small buckets (or empty gallon jugs) Cup stacking cups

-If their tower falls, they must restart with one cup. 14 USE YOUR NOODLE! -3 Teams -One noodle per team -Playing area is scattered with tennis balls, bean balls, and koosh balls. -One student per team runs to the playing area and attempts to maneuver the ball of their choice back to their team. -After they return, second person in line goes. - Play continues until the time is up. -Add up points at the end of the round. *3 points for koosh balls *2 points for bean balls *1 point for tennis balls 15 STAR WARS -Class V. Class -Divide the gym long ways -Along the center line, place 25 gator skin balls -Behind each team will be 8 pins lined up -GOAL: Be the first team to knock down your opponents pins. -On GO students run to the center of the gym, pick up balls, and start throwing towards their opponents pins. Students may also guard their own pins only by standing in front of them. -Once all of the pins are down on one team, call out the winner. They get one point. -Teams can also earn a CLEAN UP point. Volunteer will yell CLEAN UP at which time, students will clean up all of the balls on THEIR side of the gym by placing them on the center line. They are also responsible for setting their pins back up. The first team to clean up their side of the gym wins a point. -Therefore, in one round, the score could be 1-1 or 2-0. The team with the most points at the end of the 10 minutes at the station wins! 16 STAR WARS -Class V.
