I would like to thank all the past board members for doing a great job. I am sure the new officers and directors will serve the club well. Again thank you everyone who has volunteered and given their time to make this a great club during the past years. The Bottom Boat trip was also a great success. Everyone seemed to have a good time. There were 65 people that participated, 53 members and 12 guests. The weather was very nice with a bit of a breeze and 2 foot seas. John Baggett, with the help of Bob Cyr and other helpers did a fine job of putting it together and supplying the food and drink. The winners of the most weight are pictured below. Great job to all and they came in under budget as well. First Place: Bob Cyr 12lb 4oz Red Snapper You can see all the pictures of the trip by going to the Pastime Princess web site. And click on pictures May 10 th 2008. This is the web address, www.pastimeprincess.com. Next month is the Surf Tournament on June 21 st, We hope to see a good turn out. Bring the whole family. This is an enjoyable outing. You may bring your own beer if you would like. The club will be supplying donuts, coffee, lunch, drinks and shrimp for bait. See flyer on page three. We have 180 memberships at this time. We lost 18% of the membership which is the amount we lost last year. But, our membership is growing more and more each year. In the past we lost about 25% to 30% each year. So hopefully we are do the right things to keep the club growing and making it a better. If any member has any ideas to better the club please e-mail me at RAY- BONJ@BELLSOUTH.NET. Also tell your friends and neighbors about the club. For the cost of $60.00 dues each year you get over a $100.00 in return. Low tide will push redfish to deeper areas in the flats or along ICW shore lines that hold mullet. Best bait for slow days are a chunk of mullet or mullet head on a 3/0 Daiichi circle hook tossed around oyster beds. Look for over slot redfish around Matanzas inlet when tide goes slack, use a quartered crab, mullet head or live mullet with enough weight to hold bottom. Flounder will continue to make up for slow days on the flats and creeks while fishing for redfish. Mudd minnows pinned on a RipTide pro jig head tossed around deeper creek bends will account for most flounder catches. Shallow water flounder will eat gold spoons and spinner baits retrieved slowly just above the bottom. Trout fishing will be stellar during low light conditions along creek mouths that dump into the ICW. Subsurface lipped hard plugs like the Bite A Bait and soft plastic RipTide 3 inch mullet jigged in 4-8 ft. of water will entice trout to chew. Night time dock light fishing will be in full swing as long as the water is moving. RipTide realistic shrimp rigged with a Daiichi Butt dragger in a 3/0 pitched up current and let drift through dock lights will fool just about any trout. Erik J. Olson, D.M.D. Benjamin W.
