General Information: Directions to the Middlesex County 4-H Youth Center: 645 Cranbury Road, East Brunswick, NJ, 08816 New Jersey Turnpike to exit 9, or Route 1, to Route 18 South. Take Route 18 South to the Cranbury Road exit (toward Cranbury, not South River). Follow Cranbury Road approximately 8 traffic lights. The 4-H log cabin is immediately on your right just thru the Cranbury/Fern Road light/intersection. Doors Open: 8:00 AM (No day of show entries will be accepted after 9:00 AM). All animals need to be present and checked in by 9:00 AM. Judging will begin at 10:00 AM. The order of judging for each type of animal and breed will be posted the day of show. Registration Dates and Fees: All entries should be postmarked by March 4 th or emailed by March 11 th. Entries postmarked or e-mailed after the deadline dates will incur an additional charge of $2.00/animal. Postmarks will determine the late fee so please register early. Day of show entries are cash only. A 4-H Event Permission form and a leader signature is required for all youth participants. There will be no refunds for scratches. No changes of ownership will be accepted after initial registration. There will be a $1.00 fee for day of show substitutions. They must be same breed and class. Show Rules: Fees: $3.00/animal - in advance registration (regardless of breed, type, class or size) $5.00/animal - day of show entries this is an additional $2.00 (no exceptions) Please make all checks payable to: Middlesex County 4-H Small Animal Council Member Eligibility This event is open to 4-H members enrolled in the Rabbit, Cavy, Herpetology, Small Animal or Poultry 4-H Projects. Cloverbud members can participate in a special 4-H non-competitive exhibition class. To be eligible to show at the Middlesex County 4-H Rabbit, Cavy, Small Animal, Herpetology and Poultry Show, the exhibitor must be a 4-H member in Good Standing according to the state 4-H standards as follows. The 4-Her must have: a. Attended at least 70% of regular club meetings. b. Been responsible for the physical care/handling of animals to the fullest extent possible. c. Have up-to-date project record book. General Expectations: Parents are responsible for the conduct of their children. This is a 4-H show and we will expect all youth to conduct themselves in an appropriate manner. Parents are responsible for the supervision of their children inside and outside the 4-H building during animal shows and will be held responsible for any damage to the property or injury to their children. All participants are expected to be courteous of one another and share the space in the showroom.

Rabbit, Cavy, Small Animal, Herpetology, and Poultry Eligibility: All animals must be owned by the 4-Her exhibiting (prior to the day of show), or be registered as a 4-H project animal. Any owner showing an animal that requires a permit must be able to provide a copy of the permit in the case of state inspection. Please check the New Jersey Division of Fish and Wildlife website to determine if your animal requires a permit http://www.state.nj.us/dep/fgw/permreq.htm or to determine if your animal is on the exempted list http://www/state.nj.us/dep/fgw/xemptspp.htm If you have any questions about your animal needing a permit, please contact the Exotic and Non-game Permits office at (908) 735-5450 or email EXOTICPERMITS@dep.state.nj.us Rabbits must be 13 weeks old to be shown. There will be a Doe and Litter Class for rabbits, ages for litter 6 12 weeks. Doe & litter will not be shown in a box. Please transport in a cage where the litter is plainly visible. Cavies must meet ACBA weight requirements (12 oz.) to be shown. Poultry must be 16 weeks old (4 months) to be shown. All animals must be owned and shown by the 4-H youth exhibitor. If the 4-H er is not present at the show the exhibit will be scratched. Health Requirements: All animals entering the show must have a valid Certificate of Veterinary Inspection (CVI) or Animal Health Certificate (AHC) or the New Jersey Department of Agriculture 4-H Poultry, Rabbit or Cavy Health Form. The CVI, AHC or the New Jersey Department of Agriculture 4-H Poultry, Rabbit or Cavy Health Form must be presented at registration. All rabbits, cavies or small animals shall be identified by USDA approved official identification. The rabbit, cavy or small animal must be identified individually on the CVI/AHC by ear tag or tattoo number. All rabbits must be legibly tattooed or have an identifying number in the left ear. Cavies may have be ear tagged or have the entry number clearly written on tape and fastened to the left ear. Small Animals shall have the entry number written on tape and attached to ear or attached to their carrier. Any animal suspected of having a health problem by a judge or the show superintendent must be removed from the show grounds immediately. Preparing for the Show: The 4-H member will clean and prepare their own animal. Cloverbud members and first year 4-Hers may receive assistance from other 4-H ers and club leaders. No 4-Her or parent may do the work of preparing the animal for entry for another 4-Her. Parents are expected to support and enforce this rule also. If a 4-Her is in need of assistance, he or she may request the help of another 4-H er/leader, subject to approval by their club leader or show superintendent/show committee. Awards: Plaques will be awarded to the Best in Show rabbit, cavy, small animal, herpetology, and poultry. Rosettes will be awarded to the Reserve Best in Show rabbit, cavy, small animal, herpetology, and poultry. Best of Breed medallions will be awarded to each Best of Breed rabbit & cavy, when the breed is represented by at least 5 different exhibits and 3 different exhibitors, otherwise a rosette will be awarded. Sponsored awards are awarded regardless of the number of exhibits. Rosettes will be awarded, when a trophy is not sponsored, to each Best and Reserve Best of Breed rabbit, cavy, small animal, herpetology & poultry. Flat ribbons will be given for Danish awards.

All entries must be health checked prior to entering the show area. 2. Any animal suspected of having a health problem by any judge, show official or show committee member will be disqualified and must be removed from the show grounds immediately. This rule will be strictly enforced. 3. An official 4-H Poultry, Rabbit or Cavy Health Form must be completed by the 4-H Leader or other qualified adult within 30 days prior to the exhibition at a 4-H sponsored show or demonstration. Please submit this form when sending in your show entry form. This form is not to be used if the poultry to be exhibited are on the same premises with commercial poultry of the same type. In that case, a health chart prepared by an accredited veterinarian must be issued 30 days prior to the show 4. All poultry, including exhibition, exotic, and game birds (including ostrich, emu and rhia but excluding waterfowl) going to public exhibition in New Jersey shall originate from U.S. Pullorum-Typhoid clean or equivalent flocks, or have had a Pullorum-Typhoid test within 90 days prior to the exhibit. A copy of the U.S. Pullorum-Typhoid clean certificate can be sent in with the show entry form or presented at the health check prior to the show. General Show Information: 1. All birds must be owned by the exhibitor at least 60 days prior to the show. 2. All birds must be caged separately unless approved by show official or show committee member. 3. Exhibitors are responsible for their own poultry, including grooming and carrying to and from judging area. Another 4-H member or parent may carry poultry to judging if 4-H has other entries being judged. 4. Exhibitors must be present when poultry is being judged. 5. There is no trio, pair or hen and chicks classes. 6. Poultry exhibits must provide their OWN CAGES. No cages will be provided. 7. All exhibitors are responsible for providing food/water containers, equipment, and clean up. 8. All poultry will be judged according to the latest standards. The Poultry Standard of Perfection and the Bantam Standard of Perfection will be used as guides. All judge decisions are FINAL! 9. There must be a minimum of 5 entries per class for Best in Class award eligibility. 10. All entries will receive Danish ribbons, unless disqualified. 11. Best in Class and Best in Division winners will be receive rosettes. 12. Best in Show and Reserve Best in Show winners will receive awards. *Pullorum testing will be available on-site on an as-needed basis. Please indicate on your registration form if you will need to utilize this service. Testing will not be provided for less than 5 entries, so please make sure to RSVP.

New Jersey 4-H Event Permission Form for Youth 4H104 Both sides of this form must be completed by all youth participating in overnight activities, field trips, events requiring group transportation, and any other events sponsored through the 4-H Youth Development Program where it is deemed necessary by the event coordinator(s) (paid 4-H staff and/or registered 4-H volunteer) responsible for the youth participants. The form should be submitted prior to the event. The form has five parts: (1) information about the participant and activity, (2) parental permission and liability release, (3) medical emergency authorization and health information, and (4) code of conduct and (5) media policy. Be sure to complete all five parts and sign where requested! New Jersey 4-H Code of Conduct The primary purpose of the New Jersey 4-H Code of Conduct is to ensure the safety and well-being of all participants at 4-H sponsored events and activities. It applies to all participants, with participants defined as 4-H members, their parents, and volunteers. As a participant in the 4-H program, I will: Conduct myself in a courteous manner and treat members, parents, 4-H volunteers, Extension staff, judges and others with respect. Appropriate language and behavior are expected at all times. Respect and adhere to the rules and guidelines of the 4-H program including all those specific to a 4-H event or activity. Uphold an individual s right to dignity by supporting an environment of inclusion which welcomes involvement of participants from all backgrounds. Accept supervision and support from county and state 4-H staff while participating in the 4-H program. This includes acceptance of supervision and support from appointed 4-H volunteers coordinating 4-H events and activities. Obey local, state and federal laws. Participants who fail to adhere to the New Jersey 4-H Code of Conduct are subject to a range of disciplinary actions. Such actions will be taken in compliance with the New Jersey 4-H Discipline Policy and Procedure. When appropriate, immediate corrective action will be taken at the 4-H event to ensure the safety and welfare of all participants. I understand if I fail to adhere to the above Code of Conduct, I will be subject to disciplinary action and potentially prohibited from attending and participating in the New Jersey 4-H Youth Development program.
