But none of this would have been possible without everyone pitching in. COMPETITION The competition entries were a testament to skill level of our members. The competition in the Open Class was particularly fierce especially in the Caricature Class. Here s a quick summary: Flat Art Best of Class: Kyle Gabel Bird photograph Novice Best of Class: Carol Freeland Bass Intermediate Best of Class: Linda Cubero Relief Table Open Best of Class: Bruce Stake Carousel Next Meeting: November; 2pm Best of Show: Bud Seymour Red Shoulder Owl 2nd Best of Show: Bruce Stake Carousel 3rd Best of Show: Jim Hiser Scarcrow Convention Remember: For all of you out there that have sort of been thinking about entering a piece but didn t this year, Both Carol Freeman (our Best if Novice Class) and Linda Cubero (our Best of Intermediate Class) have to move up a class next year. This means there will be lots of opportunities for ribbons in the Novice and Intermediate Classes next year. Start planning your entries now. Thanks to all of our judges this year: Bob Duncan, Floyd Rhadigan, Jack Miller, Bill Zech, Bob Hershey, and Judi & Adam Ciemniecki. SEMINARS Just in time for the show, Jim Hiser, our freshly minted resident CCA member, unveiled an astounding seminar schedule for 2016. There s something for everyone Great job, Jim. (The schedule should be posted toward the end of this newsletter it s also on our website.) TUESDAY NIGHT CARVING Linda Murphy is searching for volunteers to teach on Tuesday nights. Ideas for projects are always welcome. THURSDAY NIGHT POWER CARVING Rick Baker continues to preside as Master of Ceremonies for our newly inaugurated Thursday night duck grinding secessions. It s best to check with Rick before coming by: 717-334-1292 or RICKYBAKER57@EMBARQMAIL.COM. And don t forget your dust mask. NOVEMBER MEETING Our next meeting is this Sunday (11-15-15). Doug Gabel will be running the show since I ll be in Dayton for the Artistry in Wood show whooping it up with the luminaries of the carving world. I did, however, have to promise the show promoters that I would do my best to keep Linda Murphy from dancing on the tables again this year though. DECEMBER MEETING One final note: Our annual Christmas party will follow our short December meeting (12-15-15) so bring some munchies to share and a carved ornament for our ornament competition. Dave Parker Please return these signs to the club room!
