PHOTO OF THE WEEK FROM ZAC Kia ora koutou, Wow what a week it s been! On Friday we got to see our tamariki truly rise above and shine at the Hauraki Kapahaka Festival in Paeroa. NEW NEWSLETTER FORMAT, As you will see we are trialing a new format for our newsletter, this is to make it easier to print and share online with our families. At this stage we will be maintaining weekly newsletters, however every second newsletter will be a short notice with important updates, reminders and notices, these will be issued hard copy in black and white. The other newsletters which will be longer, including student learning, photo s, community news etc will be issued hard copy in colour. If you are happy to only receive a digital copy please let Sharon ( office@east.school.nz ) know. This will help reduce paper and printing cost. Have a great long weekend! Zac

CODE RED EMERGENCY SERVICES DAY Everyone's invited to the Code Red Emergency Services Family Fun Day. We're gearing up for an exciting day at Morgan Park on Saturday 29 October with our Emergency Services Day during Goldfest. This will be a great day for children and families with the opportunity to meet and see the first responders and their vehicles and equipment close up. There'll be demonstrations with the Jaws of Life, the Police Dog Displays, the Police fitness course to try, a kitchen fire display, rapid response vehicles, mines rescue display and lots of bubbles for the kids to 'get lost' in. There'll also be lots of interactive displays and information. Add competitions, fire engine rides, food and refreshments and I think you'll agree it's going to be a busy time between 10am and 2pm. We have the Waihi Police, Waihi Fire and Rescue, Waihi St John, Waihi Beach Surf Lifesaving Club, Waihi Beach Coastguard, LandSAR (Search & Rescue), Mine Search & Rescue, Civil Defence and the Rescue Helicopter will even be there as long as it's not called out to a job. All these services are donating their time for free, and it will be a fantastic opportunity to have a great time while learning some important life skills. It's ACTION STATIONS with the Code Red Emergency Services Day Saturday October 29 at Morgan Park between 10am and 2pm.
