Th e Homecoming Dance will be in the Dick Geyer Gymnasium on Saturday, Oct. 8th, We recognize homecoming is a celebration for both our current students and alumni. As such, a number of events and activities are planned that are appropriate for each audience singly as well as the Hartley community as a whole. The administrative team unanimously decided the homecoming dance is an event that is solely for current Hartley students. Therefore, a student may not bring a date who is not a high school student -- be it college-age or middle school. Current Hartley students can bring a date from another high school with the completion of a permission slip. These parameters help ensure the dance is both a fun AND age-appropriate experience for Hartley students. Tickets for this year's Homecoming Dance will be on sale from Oct. 3-Oct. 6, 2016. Tickets are $10 per person and the theme is Olympics. o To purchase tickets, every student must return a behavior agreement. Students bringing a date who attends another high school must also return the "Guest at Bishop Hartley Homecoming" permission form which requires the signature of that student's high school principal to purchase an additional ticket. The Hartley student behavior agreement and the guest permission form will be handed out during lunch and also posted to our school website in the next week. Students are also reminded of the dress code for the dance. Boys are required to wear a shirt and tie and jackets and blazers are encouraged. Girls attire should complement the required shirt and tie. While the dance is definitely not a casual event, prom-like dresses and gowns are not appropriate.
Nurse's Notes Our school nurse, Mrs. Regina Hinterschied, wants to remind parents that all seniors must be fully immunized against meningitis. According to state law every senior must show proof of having received this vaccine. In addition, all new students to the district as well as all 9th graders must have a physical exam prior to entry. Please be sure to turn in all vaccination information and completed physical examination forms to the school nurse by September 30th. Please note: As part of the office renovation, we are changing our fax system, and we are temporarily unable to receive faxed records. Scanned records can be emailed to Mrs. Hinterschied at rhinterschied4163@columbus.k12.oh.us. Senior News Senior parents, please remember to contact your son or daughter s counselor if you were unable to attend the senior parent meeting September 1st. There s still time to place an ad featuring your favorite senior s baby photo in the 2016-2017 yearbook. Follow this link for information. New this year: The FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) can be filed beginning October 1st this year. Students will continue to receive information about this from their counselors. Applicants may now use income information from the previous tax year rather than waiting until they file this year s return. It s hard to believe, but college application deadlines will be here before we know it. Students should be contacting teachers about recommendation letters and working on applications. All applications are due November 16, 2016 unless otherwise noted by the school (for example applications for OSU Main Campus must be turned in by November 1st).
