Performing Dance Company Information Packet 2018-2019

General Company Information We start our competitive teams at age 4 through high school senior. We have a Full Company (encompasses all genres), Rising Starz (the best option for dancers who are unable to commit to our full company because of other commitments, or new dancers who want to start on a smaller scale) and Hip Hop Only company. Companies are divided first by age and then into sub-categories by ability for required classes. Both new and returning Company members must audition on Tuesday May 29, 2018. Please see details below. If accepted into the 2018-2019 Centerstage Starz Competitive Performing Company, dancers will receive an email acceptance letter with team placement by Thursday May 31, 2018. Information on Company Dances and Schedules will be available on June 15, 2018. Rehearsal schedules will be provided at a later date. Company auditions will take place on Tuesday May 29, 2018. There will be a prospective Company parent meeting Tuesday, May 29th from 5:00-6:00 p.m. All dancers will audition from 5:30-8:30 p.m. Auditions will cost $35.00 per dancer. Dancers should come dressed in full Ballet attire (black leotard, pink tights, pink ballet shoes, and ballet bun for girls and plain white t-shirt, plain black shorts, white socks, and black ballet shoes for boys.) Dancers should also bring shoes for Hip Hop, Jazz, and Lyrical. All Full Dance Company members are required (but not limited) to be in 2 competition dances. The dances that they are selected for will be at the discretion of the Company Directors. Rising Starz Company members will be limited to a maximum of 2 competition dances. Solos/Duets/Trios require Director Approval. Duets and Trios are open to all companies (Full Company, Rising Starz, and Hip Hop Company). Solos are only offered to Full Company members. All Dance Company Members excluding Mini team members will attend 3 weekend long conventions (one in-house) and 5 competitions. Our Mini competition team will attend 1 weekend long convention and 5 competitions. Convention and competition dates will be announced at our mandatory parent company meeting, which will be held in late September/early October 2018. We will be attending a National competition for the 2018-2019 competition season. Nationals is mandatory for all dance company members, location to be determined. The Mini competition team will not compete at Nationals. In addition to monthly costs, all competition dances require a one-time choreography fee ranging from $175.00 to $250 per dance depending on number of dancers and choreographers. A $200 Deposit is due June 4, 2018. The balance of the Choreography Fees will be due June 25, 2018. If chosen to be in a dance choreographed by an outside choreographer there will not be a deposit, only a direct payment at the time of choreography. Outside Choreography fees will vary dependent on choreographer and number of dancers. Mandatory Summer Intensive, June 18-21. During this intensive we will offer many different classes, with some of our studio teachers, local outside choreographers and LA Choreographers. Please hold June 22 nd open as we will plan a fun company afternoon event for the dancers. The cost of this intensive is $385.00 per dancer. Fees for this will be due by June 4 th.

There is a mandatory choreography boot camp beginning July 23 rd through August 5 th and all following weekends in August, if needed. Dancers will be emailed a schedule with required times for each of their dances. If choreography time is missed, you must get private lessons with the choreographer. You may also be choreographed out of sections that you miss. For outside choreographers, if you miss the master classes, you MAY NOT audition to be a part of an outside choreographer s dance. Only full company members will be considered for a part in these dances. If you are participating in a dance with an outside choreographer, this is in addition to your 2 dance minimum requirement. Attendance will be a major factor in determining each member s role in Company. We will be checking past attendance records for each current and prospective dancer for all required classes (not just Company rehearsals) during the past year. For returning dancers, their Centerstage Starz account balance must be paid in full to be accepted onto the 2018-2019 competitive team. Overall attitude and willingness to participate during the previous year will also be a major factor in determining each member s role in Company. Our goal is to build the most passionate, committed, and cohesive Company possible, so these factors are important to take into consideration.
