Cross Country Update: Congratulations to our girls and guys Cross Country teams! They both came in first at our home 5-team meet. Both teams are looking great as we head into the heart of the season. Region for Cross Country will be Monday, October 20 at 5:00 p.m. at Wren High School. Upper State will be Sat, Nov 1 at Hillcrest in Simpsonville. Come out and support your Mustangs at these very important races. C-Team Basketball Update Boys coach Archie Adams Girls coach Chuck Shealy Boy s basketball conditioning begins October 20 th from 3:30-4:45. Students must have a physical on file to participate. Tryouts for both boys and girls are November 5 th -7 th. Tryouts for the girls will be from 3:30-5pm, boys from 5-6:30pm in the middle school gym.
Science Olympiad Update Please email Mrs. Frady at fradyp@anderson1.k12.sc.us Any student who is interested in joining the Science Olympiad team should ask their science teacher to send their name to Mrs. Frady. We only have 5 available spots. To qualify you must have excellent science and math grades, no disciple referrals, and be able to spend time outside of practice working on your event. Yearbook Information: Orders will be handled the same way as last year. Parents may order yearbooks online or return the order form with their money enclosed in the envelope to the school during open sale dates. Another open sale will be announced at a later date. If you choose to order by form/envelope, you may mail it in to Jostens at any time. Parents please go ahead and place your order now because the price of the yearbook will increase closer to distribution date in May! Video Contest: Please email Mrs. Wimberly at wimberlye@anderson1.k12.sc.us if you have any questions. It's a STEM video contest. First-, second- and third-place winners of the talent and STEM competitions will each win $500, $250 and $100 cash prizes, and they will be recognized at the annual S.C. Teacher of the Year celebration. The winning talent entry will also perform at that celebration. PE Updates: Mustang Sling bags are on sale for $10.00. See Coach Ashley of Coach Frazier. These are red bags with a white horseshoe on them. ipad Updates Games You may download whitelisted games and apps at home. Games and apps will be deleted if storage is low. No social media, violence, or mature content. Games should not be played during instructional hours (begins in hallways in the AM). If you have a blacklisted app, you will receive 5-minute warning to remove it before your ipad is frozen. The app store will be removed if policies are abused. Care of the device Keep your Otterbox case on AT ALL TIMES. Keep your ipad covered when it is not in use, especially in transport. Write your name on a piece of tape or label and attach to your cover and charger. Lost chargers and covers are not covered under the Paid Protection Plan ($40 to replace). Digital Citizenship Follow the expectations given in the lessons from the first week of school. Keep your ipad muted or use headphones while at school. Do not take ipads to the cafeteria, restroom, or recess. No earbuds while walking on school grounds. Respect and follow each of your teachers' procedures and instructions regarding music on your ipad. No music allowed in the presence of a substitute. C-Team Volleyball Update:

Palmetto s Finest Qualifications for the 1st Nine Weeks Please email Mr. Knight at knightb@anderson1.k12.sc.us if you have any questions. To earn Palmetto's Finest you must meet the following criteria: 1) All grades 80's and above 2) No demerits for the nine week period 3) No more than 2 unexcused absences. 4) Complete community service hours 10 hours of service are required for the first quarter. Students simply record the hours they volunteer, the service they provided, and have the
supervisor sign and record their phone number. Guidelines for hours 1. Ten hours of community service is required each nine weeks. 2. No more than four (4) hours of service can be directly related to any family member. 3. Completed service hours are due to your Homeroom teacher on the last day of the quarter. A minimum of ten hours of community service is required for each quarter of school.
