Coaches: Dan Rose, David Poupart The Youth Team was in Montreal at the end of March preparing for the PABCON Championships. The PABCON Youth Championships is for youth bowlers under the age of 16 and under the age of 20. The tournament will be held at 24-lane bowling center Caribe in Ponce, Puerto Rico from July 6-13, 2013. The City of Ponce, often referred to as "La Perla del Sur" (Pearl of the South), is located in the Southern Coastal Plain region of Puerto Rico. Ponce has hosted international bowling events in the past such as the 2010 Central American and Caribbean Games and the 2011 Olympic Cup. Each PABCON Federation is allowed to send up to four boys and four girls in the Under-20 division and up to two boys and two girls in the Under-16 division. To be eligible for the Under 20 and Under 16 division players must not have reached 20 and 16 years of age on Jan. 1st, 2013, respectively. PABCON currently consist of 28 Federations: Argentina, Aruba, Bahamas, Bermuda, Bolivia, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Curaçao, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Haiti, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Puerto Rico, United States of America, Uruguay, Venezuela, and Virgin Islands.

Team Canada has a busy schedule, World Championships, World Games and Tournament of the America s. The 2013 World Championships is open to 36 men and 36 women teams which have qualified in zone qualifications in Europe, Asia and America during the year 2012. The World Tenpin Bowling Association announced in its December newsletter that all invited federations have confirmed their participation in the event. The Combined Worlds Championships will be held from August 16-31 at Sunset Station's Strike Zone bowling center, a 72-laner in Henderson, Nev., in suburban Las Vegas, United States. The 2013 World Championships will be hosted by four partners: the World Tenpin Bowling Association, the United States Bowling Congress, Station Casinos and the City of Henderson. The World Games are an international multi-sport event, meant for sports, or disciplines or events within a sport, which are not contested in the Olympic Games. The World Games are organized and governed by the International World Games Association (IWGA), under the patronage of the International Olympic Committee (IOC). Each of the three zones of the World Tenpin Bowling Association (WTBA) had its own qualifying event to determine the eight countries each which will send one male and one female bowler to the bowling competition of the IX World Games, which will be held from Aug 1-4, 2013. Lee Evans Tournament of the Americas - July 28 - August 3, 2013 An invitational tournament for PABCON (American Zone) member countries to enter their National Teams of Adults, Seniors and Juniors. The Tournament of The Americas will celebrate its 51st year in 2013. The tournament has moved to Strikers Lanes, Sunrise, Greater Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The Tournament of the Americas will be sanctioned by PABCON. Renowned Sport Psychologist Dr. Peter Usher to Join CTF Coaching Staff at the Canadian National Championships this coming May, 2013 With the Pan Am Games coming to Canada in 2015, additional funding may be available for tenpin bowling in the area of sport psychology. In order to provide cost and time frames required, the CTF High Performance Committee has been in talks with Dr. Peter Usher, who will join the coaching staff at this year s Canadian National Championships. Peter is no stranger to the sport of bowling; he worked with the Singapore national bowling team and the Singapore School Programs. Peter is a Chartered Professional Coach and for over twenty years was a Master Course Conductor in Canada's coach education program. He is a former soccer player and coach in Canada. The team of Mark Buffa, David Simard, Francois Lavoie, George Lambert IV, and Patrick Girard are sitting in third position at the USBC Open Championships. The 6th member of the Canadian contingent at the event is Art Oliver Jr. (R) Mark Buffa rolled the 12th perfect game of the 2013 USBC Open Championships and the Leaf Lovers team leaped into third place in Regular Team with a 3,509 total, the fifth-highest team set in tournament history. Lodge Lanes Too of Orlando, Fla., leads this year so far with a record score of 3,538. Buffa sandwiched his 300 between games of 259 and 225 for a 784 series, which included a string of 21 consecutive strikes. The 30-year-old right-hander helped Leaf Lovers to opening games of 1,136 and 1,217, and
they stepped up in their final frame with a shot at the lead, before falling just short with 1,156. Patrick Girard contributed a 721 series for Leaf Lovers and was followed by David Simard (720), George Lambert IV (666) and Francois Lavoie (618). "We were using this to prepare for the World Championships in August," said Buffa, who made his second Open Championships appearance. "Francois is the newest member of the team, so this was a good way for us to learn how to communicate, and we did that extremely well today. We had a game plan coming out and executed it well."
