PUPPY LOVE Monday, 9 July BBC One, 8.30pm Puppy Love: Life at the Dog Spa opens the doors to the weird and wonderful world of pampered pooches, where obsessive owners, or puppy parents, bring their fur babies in for a five-star experience. Treatments include the Claudia Schniffer, luxurious mud baths, furcials and bright pink dye jobs. Leanne Couch is the owner of a luxury dog spa business with salons in Cardiff and Chepstow - and a young mum with five children. Dog-dotty entrepreneur Leanne believes there is nothing better than the love of a dog, and is always thinking up new ideas to combine her passion for pedigree pooches with her next business venture. Dragged along for the ride are her long-suffering husband Leigh - and most of her friends and family including mum and sidekick Evelyn - who s there every step of the way. Puppy Love: Life at the Dog Spa follows the highs and lows of the lives of Leanne, her family, the staff and puppy parents who all spend their time and lots of money pampering their pets. CRITICAL: INSIDE INTENSIVE CARE Monday, 9 July BBC One Wales, 9pm Critical: Inside Intensive Care is an observational documentary following staff and patients at Newport s Royal Gwent Hospital. At the Intensive Care Unit the medical team work tirelessly to take care of the hospital s sickest patients. The filmmakers have been granted extraordinary access to the unit for a period of over two months in the year that marks the 70th anniversary of the NHS. The programme intimately portrays the work of the doctors and nurses, as well as their patients and the loved ones who wait anxiously by their bedside. Dealing with death is a difficult part of the work in Intensive Care, and this can take a heavy emotional toll on the staff. Every day critical decisions are made on how to treat people, how to prolong life and ultimately when to let a life end. WEATHERMAN WALKING Friday, July 13 BBC One Wales, 7.30pm BBC Wales beloved weatherman Derek Brockway is lacing up his boots and heading for the hills in the latest series of Weatherman Walking and is joined by a host of special guests along the way, including Olympian Colin Jackson. Exploring trails across Wales, he starts his walks in Carmarthenshire s stunning Dinefwr Park. Putting his best foot forward, Derek hikes the grounds before trying his hand at being a park ranger. After a brisk walk around the estate, he swaps his boots for a buggy to feed a herd of rare White Park cattle, which have inhabited the park for over 1,000 years. Derek then heads off to Penarth where he is joined by World Record Holding hurdler Colin Jackson for a spot of fossil hunting overlooking Sully Island. Following in the footsteps of prehistoric dinosaurs, the pair uncover Triassic tracks on the beach before learning more about the area s colourful past. Jordan Harris 5
