Winter bulletin YUBoded1 Hau i Fedi
At the beginning of the academic year, the school recognises the achievements of our pupils during the previous term. A special service for rewarding attendance, was held following the attendance guidelines as stated by the school council. This year has seen the highest percentage of pupils with full attendance. The winners of the Attendance Lottery were Thomas, Wiliam, Tomos, Loki and John and they all received high street vouchers for their success. Thank you to parents and carers for your support.
Congratulations to Dion Alun, year 8 who won the gold medal in a National Life Saving Competition in Leeds recently. Dion was competing in the older boys yrs competition even though he's only 13. Well done Dion!
Thank you to our talented pupils for their mature contribution to the discussion following the decision not to continue with the plans for Wylfa Newydd in Amlwch. Their contributions were used on a news item on Radio Cymru.
Congratulations to Twm and Owain. We're very proud of them both. Twm has been chosen to be in the next production for the Welsh Youth Theatre and will be performing in November. We wish you all the best! Owain attended a meeting of the Young Farmers Youth Forum at Builth Wells recently and contributed to the discussions in a very mature way. Well done!
Thank you to the Soroptimist International Anglesey for their visit recently. Their Loving Relationship cards will be shared with Year 10 pupils. #respect#love
The staff decided not to send each other Xmas cards and instead donated towards St David s Hospice. 228 was raised and here is Glen presenting the cheque to Ella from St David s Hospice. The pupils wore Christmas Jumpers for a day and raised for Save the Children
Selling their business ideas to three Dragons were our Welsh Bacc 6 th form pupils recently. Everyone was looking for a 50 sponsorship towards setting up their new business. The majority of them were successful in securing the funding!
Congratulations to the F1 Team in Schools Year 7 - BWLEDI BODED (Boded Bullets). They were competing at Venue Cymru, Llandudno and won the first prize with "Team Merchandise" and 2nd overall in the yrs Competition. Well done! Here are the boys with their award - Aled, Robat, Tomos, Emyr and Ned.
Here are Twm, Mia and Ceri shopping for, and presenting 145 worth of food to the foodbank at Holyhead. The three are on the Urdd s Youth Forum and are very hard working members of the committee. The Forum decided to donate the money they raised in the Cybi/Alaw Carol's Concert before the Xmas. Well done the three of you for your work.
Congratulations to Molly and Oliver on their success in the first round of the Urdd s cookery competition. Good luck to you both in Round 2. We look forward to sampling your mouth-watering creations!
Congratulations and thanks to our Pupils who took part in the Pwy Geith y Gig? (Who ll get the Gig?) which was filmed here recently. A special thank you to Mr Paul Magee for all the arrangements. We also congratulate Ifan Pritchard, a past pupil of ours who performed here with his band Gwilym. His group won 5 Selar prizes which are the Welsh pop world s accolades. Huge congratulations to you Ifan!
Mrs Nerys Wyn Jones wishes to very warmly thank the girls that travelled down to Cardiff for their fantastic attitude and behaviour. Everyone had many great experiences, with plenty of laughs and excitement on the way. A massive thank you to the Year 7/8 girls for their positive attitude and their natural friendliness towards the pupils of Plasmawr, Cardiff during their game. The score was the only disappointment. The main purpose of the trip was for the 5 a side football tournament for Year 9/10 girls. Over 60 schools competed and they were all from the Cardiff area apart from YUB! The standard was very high and many of the girls played for Swansea and Cardiff football teams with two even playing for Wales.
Congratulations to everyone who competed in the Gymnastics Competition, Urdd Ynys Môn. The successful competitors will represent Ynys Môn in the National Competition.
Glan Clwyd v YUB A fantastic game of football was played against Ysgol Glan Clwyd. Both teams played to a very high standard and YUB girls fought back to score two goals in the final minutes. Final score 5-4. Well done to Mali, Efa, Yasmin and Jessica on your goals! We re very proud of you - well done everyone!
Congratulations to the Year 7/8 girls in the Urdd North Wales Football tournament. The girls came 2 nd!
