2012-2013 STS Cheerleading Season

RESPONSIBILITY SPIRIT LEADERSHIP 1/26/2012 Dear Students and Parents, The words above represent what a STS cheerleading is all about. We expect our cheerleaders to exhibit these qualities at all times. Having positive attitudes, following rules, showing respect, following directions, showing school spirit, and being the best middle school student one can be are all a big part of being a St. Timothy s cheerleader. When all of these things are in place, all involved have a more positive experience with cheerleading. Cheerleading is a MAJOR commitment. For the 2012-2013 school year, the cheerleaders will cheer for all home basketball games, and possible two away games. STS Cheerleaders will also prepare and participate in four pep rallies. If you are involved in other activities, please consider the time commitment involved in being an STS cheerleader. We expect every girl to be present at every practice and every game with the exception of emergency situations. Last minute practices may be scheduled if coaches see fit. Please notify the coaches 72 hours in advance if your daughter is unable to participate in a game, practice or pep rally. We will not accept notifications after 72 hours. St. Timothy s cheerleading is about following the rules, showing school spirit, being a leader, and having fun. It is a major commitment that we want each girl and her family to carefully consider before joining the team. We look forward to meeting and working with each one of you in the upcoming season! GO TITANS- Coach Kimmy and Coach Lauren 1

WHAT IT MEANS TO BE A TITANS CHEERLEADER To realize the cheerleading squad exists to PROMOTE school spirit through behavior, actions, attitude, and words, and cheer for the basketball teams. We exist to support the sports teams. To LEAD the crowd in cheers to encourage the basketball teams. To maintain pep, positive attitudes, and be ENCOURAGING at all times when representing STS at school, school functions, and community functions. To be PROFESSIONAL in appearance and behavior when representing STS, including during the school day. To maintain RESPECT in behavior, actions, and words to: 1. Fellow squad members, 2. Coaches, 3. Parents, 4. Students, 5. Faculty, 6. STS fans and 7. Other schools students and fans. Cheerleaders, by name, are LEADERS. When people choose to take on leadership positions, then other people expect more of those leaders. Leaders set good examples in the community, at school in the hallways and classrooms, at other schools, at practice, etc. MORE will be expected of you if you decide to try out and if you do make the squad. Cheerleading is a big commitment and responsibility. 2

CHEERLEADING TRYOUTS During summer camp, participants will learn two dances, chants and cheers. The coaches will select which routines will be performed. The girls will be judged on their technique, kicks, jumps, tumbling, memorization, and STS spirit. Day of Tryouts Cheerleaders will arrive no later than 1:00pm. Cheerleaders will register and receive a tryout number. Cheerleaders will follow the coaches in a warm up and stretch. Cheerleaders will review two dances, chant and cheer. Cheerleaders will then begin tryouts.
