PREVIEW : MONTPELLIER HÉRAULT SC - PARIS SAINT-GERMAIN Feature Preview Early-season pacesetters Paris Saint-Germain are likely to again be without Zlatan Ibrahimovic as they face rock-bottom Montpellier Hérault SC on Friday. Ibrahimovic missed the first two games of the new Ligue 1 season with a knee injury and is set to also be conspicuous by his absence as the reigning French champions head south in search of a third successive victory to maintain their 100% start to the campaign. Following last weekend's solid if unspectacular victory over GFC Ajaccio, PSG have now won their last ten competitive fixtures, and are yet to concede a goal in the 2015-16 season. It is the latter fact that pleases coach Laurent Blanc most. "We're on a promising run of wins since last year, but the most interesting thing is that since the start of the season and even in pre-season, during the tournament in the USA and the Trophée des Champions, there has been a focus in defence and from the whole team that I like very much," Blanc, who started his glittering playing career at Montpellier, explained. "We're going to concentrate on that all season, because games are won and lost on collective details, and we also have to show determination and concentration in the big games." Though Ibrahimovic will likely be missing, Blanc can still count on a heavyweight squad and may even be able to give Angel Di Maria his first outing since his arrival from Manchester United. The Argentina international, who was presented to the Parc des Princes crowd before last weekend's L1 win, joins goalkeeper Kevin Trapp and former Montpellier man Benjamin Stambouli in strengthening the PSG squad ahead of a season in which they hope not only to repeat their unprecedented quadruple of last term, but also progress beyond the quarter-finals in the Champions League. "We're renewing the squad. I hope we'll renew it still more. That will give us some momentum and individual motivation to achieve our objectives. I think the squad needs it," explained Blanc, whose side have fallen at the last-eight hurdle in each of the last three seasons. "This season, the big difference is to try and have the whole squad available at critical moments, which wasn't the case last season. We can't match the best if we're not at 100% and we don't have the whole squad." After pushing for Europa League qualification last season, Montpellier have yet to kickstart their new campaign. A damaging defeat to newly-promoted Angers SCO was followed by another loss at Stade Rennais FC. "We all need confidence. The players, the coach," Montpellier boss Rolland Courbis, whose side are yet to find the net this season, explained. "We're timid in what we're doing and timid in the final third. We're trying so hard to do things well, we're making life complicated for ourselves. We have to show to ourselves that we can be dangerous and can score." Following the departure of last season's leading scorer Lucas Barrios, Montpellier have not bought a replacement striker in the summer window, and played only two pre-season friendlies following Courbis' decision not to organise more for fear of losing players to injury. 08/21/2015 Ligue de Football Professionnel - 2015/2016 - Ligue1.com 2
