That is why Friday, September 30th is our special day set aside every year to honor our Grandparents. This is the time to tell our grandparents how much they are loved and adored and also their importance in our lives. This celebration gives us an opportunity to express our love and appreciation for their role that they play in our lives. Top ten reasons to be thankful for our grandparents: 1) Grandparents have unconditional love that comes straight from the heart 2) Grandparents lives are lit up by their grandchildren s spark & stories 3) Grandparents are living history books they can share how daily life used to be before technology and other modern advances 4) Grandparents can share their family history with their grandchildren. Teach about their family tree and all the stories connected to different family members 5) Grandparents have time to just be with their grandchildren. They love to give children undivided attention and just listen to them or play cards or games with them 6) Grandparents can teach their grandchildren classical skills gardening, woodworking, baking, sewing, knitting, etc. 7) Grandparents pass on family traditions and keep family culture going 8) Grandparents help children to feel a sense of identity which contributes to their self esteem 9) Grandparents can be the other caring adults in a child s life, who a child can turn to in times of need, which is considered to be one of the most important protective factors 10) Grandparents share invaluable wisdom. They have a unique perspective to share from their life s journey Brought together by faith, St. Mary s School is a Franciscan family welcoming and inspiring all to love, live, learn and serve as Christ taught us!
