Eagle Landing Community & Golf Newsletter November/December 2011 EAT, DRINK AND BE CHARITABLE 2nd Annual Spaghetti Supper presented by The Golden Eagles Clubhouse Restaurant Tuesday, December 6th 5:30pm - 8pm All proceeds are used for families the Golden Eagles have adopted through the Salvation Army Adopt-a-Family program. The menu includes spaghetti, salad, garlic bread, a beverage and cake. Donation: $10 per adult, $5 per child, under 3 eat free. The entire community is invited to help provide holiday joy to Clay County children who are less fortunate. NEW YEAR S EVE 9pm Clubhouse Restaurant $10 per person Dance into the night and welcome 2012 with complimentary hor d oeuvres and champagne toast. HOLIDAY LIGHTS COMPETITION Wednesday, December 14th 6pm Show how much you love the holidays by decorating your house and yard. Judging takes place by the residents on December 14th as they tour the community via a hayride! Enter your house by Monday, December 12th by emailing Matt at mbiagetti@eastwestc.com. Sunday, December 18th The Polar Express 6:30pm This is the story of a young hero boy on Christmas Eve who boards a powerful magical train that s headed to the North Pole and Santa Claus s home. TURKEY TROT Village Green 10am Saturday, November 19th It s that time of year to run the fun 5k to make up for all of the great food you are going to eat during Thanksgiving. The entertaining Tot Trot around the green will follow once all of the competitors return. RSVP by Wednesday, November 16th. POLAR BEAR PLUNGE 2012 Sunday, January 1st 10am Start the New Year off with a bone chilling splash into the icy waters at the Swim Park at our 6th annual plunge. EAGLE LANDING S ANGEL TREE Athletic Center Eagle Landing would like your help in providing a memorable holiday to local families in need. Select your angel at the Athletic Center beginning in early November. After such an outpour of support last year, we have requested more Angels this year. After School Kids COMMUNITY GARAGE SALE Saturday, November 12th 8am - 1pm $5 Registration Fee The Eagle Landing HOA has given permission to hold individual garage sales for this date only! Your address must be registered with the Athletic Center in order to participate. We ll provide signage along OakLeaf Parkway and Branan Field as well as handling all other advertising. Registered homes can pick up official Eagle Landing balloons (3) to mark your mailbox between 7am and 8am the morning of the sale. Community maps will be handed out with all registered homes identified. Registrations received after 5pm on November 10th will not appear on the map. V.I.P.S PROGRAM The V.I.P.S. program is a volunteer program that allows adult Clay County residents the opportunity to assist their community by assisting the Clay County Sheriffs Office. Duties range in nature and opportunities vary across all three divisions of the Clay County Sheriff s Office. We need a few more volunteers for this program to be successfull in Eagle Landing. TEEN CORNER TEEN HANGOUT Saturday, December 10th 7pm-10pm Athletic Center Gymnasium Ages 13+ Hang out with your friends at the gym with no set schedule. Feel free to just hang out or shoot some hoops. The space is yours to organize any type of pick-up games you want. Remember, only those who are 14 or older may go upstairs. GOLF THE 4TH ANNUAL STEVE CARR MEMORIAL Saturday, November 19th 12:30pm Shotgun Once again we all come together and play golf while remembering a FRIEND. 2010 marked the first year we handed the University of North Florida a check in the name of Steve Carr to benefit a deserving student. That student just happens to play golf which was the favorite hobby of Steve. Please give us your support so we may keep the current scholarship going and build to make it better. Format: 1 score on the par 5 s, 2 scores on the par 4 s and 3 scores on the par 3 s. Each team may consist of 4 players and all players will play their own ball. Entry Fee: $65 per player for Eagle Landing members or $75 per player for non-members. The entry fee includes golf, lunch and prizes. Members: Please try to put a team together without other members. The more individual teams we can get, the more money we can raise. Call the Golf shop at 291-5600 to sign up as a team or as an individual. JUNIOR TENNIS CLINICS TINY TOTS Ages 4-7 30 minute class $5/class Tuesdays and Thursdays 4pm - 4:30pm A class focusing on the fundamentals. Drills and games are aimed to be fun while introducing young children to tennis. INTERMEDIATE ACES Ages 6+(based on level) 1hr class $10/class Tuesdays and Thursdays 4:30pm - 5:30pm Program consists of games and drills with the intent to be able to play points and rally back and forth. Many of these players have moved up from tiny tots or played in Summer Camp. New players are always welcome as we still focus much of our attention on the basic fundamentals of tennis. GRAND PRIX Based on level 90 minute class $12.50/class M-T-TH 5:30pm - 7pm Players in this class are able to serve, play points, and move around the entire court. A more intense class focusing on footwork, stroke production, and setting up points. Most of the players in this group are starting to play tournaments and USTA junior league.
