FISH BITES The Marlins continue a 10-game homestand with the finale of this three-game set against the Philadelphia Phillies today at 12:10 p.m. Miami is starting LHP Adam Conley, who in four career starts against the Phillies has gone 1-1 with a 1.88 ERA. Philadelphia is countering with RHP Zach Eflin, who is making his first career start against the Fish. This afternoon's national anthem will be performed by Emily Kaufman, and the ceremonial first pitch will be thrown by Luis Gallardo. Today s contest is the final game of 10 straight against NL East opponents, prior to closing out the homestand with four games against the St. Louis Cardinals starting tomorrow. Miami is 7-5 thus far on a 20-game stretch without an off-day to begin the second half. LAST NIGHT VS. PHILADELPHIA The Marlins turned the page after being shut out in the opener of the series, downing the Philadelphia Phillies, 5-0. The game was scoreless until the sixth, when Giancarlo Stanton plated Martín Prado with a single to right field and provided the only run Miami would need. However, the Fish erupted for four runs in the eighth, two of which came home on a RBI single by Adeiny Hechavarria. Ichiro Suzuki led off the frame with career hit 2,997, while Stanton drove home the first run of the inning, and Miguel Rojas plated the final run. Stanton and Rojas both paced the offense with two hits apiece. Tom Koehler tossed 6.0 shut down innings, allowing just three hits and a walk while striking out five. ELIAS SAYS... With the game scoreless and a runner on second base in the sixth inning last night, Giancarlo Stanton delivered a twoout, RBI single as the Marlins went on to defeat the Phillies, 5-0. Entering that at-bat, Stanton was just 7x37 (.189) with runners in scoring position and two outs this season. However, he's found success in those situations recently. He was hitless in his first 19 at-bats with runners in scoring position and two outs in the 2016 campaign; since then, he is 8x19 in those situations (.421), including his clutch hit on Tuesday. UP NEXT Miami welcomes the St. Louis Cardinals to Marlins Park tomorrow in the first game of a four-game set starting at 7:10 p.m. The Marlins lead the 2016 season series, 2-1, after taking two of three at Busch Stadium to open the second half of the season. The Fish have gone 5-8 against the Red Birds at home since 2012, and trail the series in South Florida, 32-53. The Marlins also trail the all-time series, 71-104. HEATING UP THE HOT CORNER Over his last 10 games at Marlins Park, Martín Prado has been on fire, batting.471 (16x34) with seven doubles and nine RBI. He has collected at least one hit in nine of those games, including five multi-hit affairs. Over that span he has raised his home average from.217 to.266. On the season, Prado leads all qualifying National League third basemen in average with a.319 mark, and ranks second in the Majors only to Yunel Escobar (.327). HIT SQUAD Miami leads the National League and ranks second in the Majors with 938 hits, trailing only Boston (1009). The Fish are averaging 9.4 hits a game in 2016, the highest mark in Club history, ahead of the 2007 team that averaged 9.3. The Marlins.270 average as a team again ranks second in MLB to the Red Sox (.290), and would rank second behind the 2005 (.272) team for the highest single-season team average in Franchise history. SWEET SWINGIN' LEFTY Christian Yelich has been putting together his finest season since coming to the Majors, batting.322 with 10 home runs, 54 RBI, a.399 on-base percentage and.493 slugging percentage. His average, HR, OBP and SLG are all career-bests, while his RBI total has tied a career best, last done in 2014. He needs four doubles to have 30 in each of the last three seasons and become the sixth Marlins player in Franchise history to have three-or-more consecutive seasons of 30+ doubles. Dating back to June 27, 2015, Yelich owns the second-highest average among all Major League hitters at.337, behind only Jose Altuve (.343). QUICK FISH The Marlins have legged out 94 infield hits this season, third-most in the Majors, behind St. Louis (102) and Boston (96). J.T. Realmuto leads Miami with 15, which is tied for ninth in the National League, behind league leaders Aledmys Diaz (21) and Jonathan Villar (21). Ichiro Suzuki ranks second on the club with 11, followed by Martín Prado with 10. Ichiro is the active leader in infield hits with 644 (Elias), followed by Alex Rodriguez (300) and Jose Reyes (276). MULTIPLE FISH WITH MULTIPLE HITS Miami is one of just three National League teams to feature three-or-more players with 30+ multi-hit games this season. Christian Yelich (34) leads the Marlins and is T-5 th in the NL, along with Martín Prado (33; T-7 th ) and Marcell Ozuna (30; T- 14 th ). The Colorado Rockies have four players, represented by Carlos Gonzalez (36), DJ LeMahieu (36), Nolan Arenado (32) and Charlie Blackmon (30), while the Dodgers have three with Corey Seager (33), Justin Turner (31), and Adrian Gonzalez (30). HOT TIMES AT MARLINS PARK Since starting the season 1-7 at home, the Fish have gone 25-15 (.625) over their last 40 at Marlins Park. Miami's home winning percentage since April 21 ranks fourth among National League clubs, behind San Francisco (.659; 27-14), the Cubs (.650; 26-14) and the Dodgers (.628; 27-16). On the season, Miami ranks third in the league with 17 saves at home, behind Pittsburgh (19) and the Mets (18). The Marlins.233 average against ranks fourth behind Chicago (.205), Los Angeles (.219) and Washington (.222).
