Father s Day Brunch This month s special Father s Day brunch will be held on: June 17th at 11:30AM Guests are charged $10.00 June Birthdays: Happy Birthday To You Employee of the Month: Robyn Gintner Robyn has worked as a Resident Assistant in the Reflections wing for over a year. She is a caring and loving individual who always has a warm smile. Robyn takes her time with the residents, to get to know their needs and personalities. She is a great help and is always available when needed. Robyn is a great asset to the River- Court team! Congratulations, Robyn! Have you seen our little hummingbird friend out on the lower patio? Spend some time by the feeder on a sunny day, and he s bound to visit! Marilyn Schaeffer June 6 Jean Monzon June 7 Hilda O'Hara June 12 Helen Sawyer June 15 Catherine Shepherd June 16 Miriam MacKenna June 17 Florence Funch June 19 Please join us to celebrate on Tuesday, 6/26 at 2:30 RiverCourt would like to welcome it s newest employees: Nicole Buckley Wellness Nurse Marion Duclos Resident Assistant Connor Erickson Cook Ashley Farmer Resident Assistant Sarah Farmer Resident Assistant Christine Lindemer Resident Assistant Clare McCallan Server Page 2

Helen takes a few moments to serenade her friends with some old favorites! It s always a thrill when the piano is played! Dona cuts a rug with one of the RAs. She is such a great dancer, there is always someone who would like to jump up and dance with Dona! Rita is about to make one exciting birthday wish! I wonder what it could be? A large group of residents sit down with the coupon sections of various newspapers to clip! They find great deals for themselves and for their friends! Page 3

For the culinary demo this month, Jess made her demo debut! She put together some scrumptious crab stuffed mushrooms, which didn t last very long once the demo was finished! The diners were thrilled to watch Jess out of the kitchen, and Rick was very proud of her delightful hors d oeuvres! Our cooking club project this month was lasagna! With the help of a few Italian chefs, we made two gooey, cheesy and, might I add, wonderful trays of lasagna! One of the trays was sent to a recent widower and, dear friend of RiverCourt s. He, as well as the rest of the residents and staff who tasted our recipe were more than thrilled with our creation! Quanto perfetto! What more can I say? Page 4

Artists/gardeners started by painting flower pots however they wished, then we filled the pots with soil and chose between Marigolds and Zinnias to plant. The flowers are now sprouting in everyone s window, and we will be planting them outside when they grow too big for their pot! Page 5

Musical Entertainment at RiverCourt Janet Cheney Piano Sing Along...6/5 at 2PM Steve Stains on Piano...6/7 at 2:30PM RiverCourt Singers Visit Apple Valley...6/8 at 1:15PM Sydney on Piano (last time before summer!!!)... 6/9 at 10AM Brian Corcoran Sings...6/12 at 2PM Townsend Band Concert Trips...6/14 & 6/28 at 6:30PM The Lyric Ladies Perform...6/20 at 2:30PM A Goodlie Companye...6/23 at 2PM Emma Sings...6/27 at 1:30PM The RiverCourt Singers Concert Across the USA was a hit! We had a full house, and some lively audience participation numbers! The Singers worked very hard for months to put this successful concert together, which was very well received! We would like to offer a special Thank You to Dick Sawyer who was our piano accompanist, as well as one of our monthly volunteer musicians. He was a huge part of our success. Everyone involved should be very proud of this accomplishment, and we look forward to our next season, beginning in the fall! Page 6

The Gay Nineties Celebration was an outstanding event, and everyone who attended had a great time! The Groton Senior Center puts on this special event once a year for everyone in the town who is 90 years or older! Those turning 90 were the special guests, and received a citation from the State House, and were able to bring a guest. The Elite Choir from Groton-Dunstable High School, who are planning a trip to London for the 2012 Olympics, were our special guest entertainment! The Cameron Music Makers from the Westford Council on Aging serenaded us with many old favorites, and were such a treat to listen to! Marti Sawyer returned once again for a celebration of spring concert, and had everyone delighting over the blooming spring flowers! Page 7

Before planting, a group of residents made a trip to the Groton Nursery to choose what plants were needed to add to our gardens. Though the weather wasn t 100% agreeable, we still managed to find some gems! Planting Day was a huge success, with perfect weather and happy gardeners! We put in many new plants, including a yellow rose outside the Nashua Suites entrance, Mini Lupines, Hens and Chicks, Cheddar Pinks, Spiderwort, and many more! Next time you are walking by the main entrance and the lower patio, check out our newest additions! Model T Car Show Don t miss our Model T Car Show on Saturday, June 30th from 10-12 out in the front turn-around. We will be having popcorn, and music provided by the Justin Meyer Swing Trio. Once again, the Memory Ride, sponsored by the Alzheimer s Association of Massachusetts will make a pit stop at RiverCourt on Saturday, July 14th, between 8am and 12:30pm. Please stop by to cheer on these cyclists as they raise funds for Alzheimer s research! Page 8

The 10th Anniversary Celebrations were kicked off with a special event Thursday evening, where long time staff members Elaine Haran, Scott Taylor, Peg Dailey, Kaitlin and Tina Goss received awards for their commitment to RiverCourt, as well as the resident who has been with us the longest, Jennie Urbanowski. Above, owner David Hamilton received a citation from State Rep. Sheila Harrington, presented by Attorney Susan Edgett. Residents and their families spent the Sunday afternoon of celebration listening to music of Adam Bergeron, eating lovely pastries. Playing throughout both of these special events was a video of the mill building, with photos from before, during and after the construction. There were even some historic photographs of the old leather board factory. Congratulations to everyone for two wonderful days! Page 9

You take the time to listen You take the time to care You perform such tasks every day That most others couldn t bear. Your compassion and devotion never goes unseen Many times the residents and families comment What a great team! We are so lucky to have this team at our front line It is because of all of you That RiverCourt is sublime! ~With many thanks from your nursing staff Thank you to our amazing Resident Assistant Staff: Rya Bennett, Amanda Bergeron, Kaley Boyle, Donna Carroll, Judith Copeland, Ana Paula Corsani, Peggy Dailey, Wendy Daley, Margo Devlin, Carmel Donoghue, Rebekah Dodson, Marion Duclos, Elizabeth Edwards, JoAnne Elfman, Deb Ernst, Robin Fadden, Ashley Farmer, Sarah Farmer, Fran Gendron, Kevin Ginthinji, Robyn Gintner, Kellie Graham, Ann Gulliver, Andrea Hume, Morgan Ledoux, Christine Lindemer, Deborah Marshall, Pam Mavilia, Victoria Nantege, Darlene Ouellet, Karen Page, Patty Racine, Scott Taylor, Patience Thomas, Kathleen Thorpe & Pam Welge.
