The Breakfast Parent Meeting Band and Color Guard Parents

What is the fundraiser? The Annual Band and Color Guard Breakfast and Silent Auction is a fundraiser that has been a community loved event for 22 years now. We serve a pancake breakfast while guests enjoy local entertainment and hopefully spend lots of money at the silent auction. Other features of the fundraiser to follow this slide.

Funds go towards Band Registration fees, equipment repairs/maintenance, trip expenses, music, new instruments, and anything else necessary to help our program be one of the finest in Martin County. Color Guard New flags and rifles, trip expenses, registration fees, tarp maintenance, anything else to make the other high schools jealous of our awesome color guard program.

This year. A large amount of the funds will be put towards our (drum roll..) FESTIVAL DISNEY TRIP! (more to come on that later.)

Committees Tickets Silent Auction Publicity Decorations Food Major Sponsors Entertainment Volunteer coordination If you missed the parent meeting/the opportunity to sign up for a committee, please email me (Miss Cleghorn) which committee you would like to be on. We still need LOTS of help! Thanks!

Tickets All students are asked to sell 10 tickets for this event. $5 adult/$3 students Given out 10/29 Incentive prizes given If you have a problem with fundraising, please speak with me in private. Students are NOT asked or encouraged to go door to door Students can of course sell more than 10.

Ticket Committee Beth Mickiewicz is the committee head All tickets/stubs must be stamped Students are given an envelope with designated ticket numbers for tracking and auditing purposes. This takes time to get together. Ticket assignments and money brought in must be tracked. All of the tracking is very important in case we get audited. Tickets are considered as good as cash. The day of we sell additional tickets at the door.

Silent Auction Patti Hall, committee head We line the entrance way by the front office with tables full of glorious silent auction items. We have a large list of loyal donors that we ask for items every year. Items are in regional folders that we ask parents to take and collect with.

Silent Auction- Regional Folders Each folder is designated for a specific region of businesses such as North Palm City, South Palm City, North Stuart, etc. Each folder includes A donor form for each business in that region that has previously donated. Listed on the form is what they have donated in the past and contact information for that business. A script to guide you through talking to a business in person or on the phone. (we prefer that you try and go in person) Blank donor forms for in case there is a new business we have not asked for donations yet. We still have folders left that were not taken at the meeting. Please email me if you are willing to take on a folder. Folders and auction items are due back to HOMS no later than November, 18 (November parent meeting)

Silent Auction Student Contribution Class/Small Group Baskets Each band class and the color guard is asked to bring items of a specific theme to create more silent auction baskets. In the past, baskets have been college specific, dog lovers, baking, grilling, spa related, etc. If you have any ideas for a themed basket, please email me.

Silent Auction the day of We need many volunteers the day of to watch the silent auction tables. After the event, we need help writing thank you notes to all of our donors.

Publicity Louis Johnson, committee head Mass Advertisement. Radio, TV, the times square billboard at the intersection of Monterey and Kanner, signs, banners, emails, t-shirts, word of mouth, flyers, etc.

Decorations Janice Borowski/Sandra Lopez, committee heads We take over the cafeteria for our event. The goal is for it not to look like a middle school cafeteria. We will be asking for donations of specific decorating items such as specific colored wrapping paper, spray can snow, bows, ribbon. These items will be asked for at the next parent meeting once the committee has decided what they need.

Decorations the weekend of We will start transforming the cafeteria on Saturday, December 7 th immediately after the Hobe Sound Holiday parade. Roughly 3-7 PM We will need many hands that afternoon. Teardown is immediately after the breakfast on Sunday so the cafeteria can serve the students breakfast Monday morning. We also need help with this. We try and put items away in labeled bins so we can find everything next year.

Food Seth Duston, committee head We serve pancakes, scrambled eggs, sausage, orange juice, donuts, coffee, tea, hot chocolate. This is the largest expense. The goal is to get as much donated as possible. Dunkin Donuts is always a major donor.

Food the day of Traditionally (my favorite part) is cracking eggs at 6 AM the day of the breakfast. We need help cooking and serving. Also traditionally, Allen Gilbert (previous band director HOMS) and his family take care of the cooking. We will probably need a few extra hands. Any leftover food gets donated to families in need. We cannot leave anything in the freezer in the HOMS Cafeteria. Please email me if you have a charity in mind that you would like to see us contribute to.

Major Sponsors For $300 you can be considered a major sponsor These funds go towards last minute needs and any food costs not covered. Any funds not spend go to the general income of the event. What you get: Your business banner hung in front of the school for the entire week of the breakfast Prime banner placement the day of the breakfast Your business name on a t-shirt worn by all students and volunteers the day of Special name placement on our placemats that are on all tables the day of Special announcements the day of We always open this up to band/color guard parent businesses first then to other businesses. Please email me if you are interested in becoming a Major Sponsor.

Entertainment Throughout the morning, there are student performers on the stage and outside by the silent auction. Past performers include HOMS Jazz Band, Drum Line, Marching band, Color Guard, Finesse, Cheerleaders, Chorus PCE Band, BCE Band and Chorus SMS Cheer, MMS Color Guard, MCHS various ensembles I usually take charge of this but need volunteers to help with clearing and setting up the stage.

Volunteer Coordinator Every family is asked to work one shift rather it be the set up day or the actual day of. All necessary forms must be turned in prior to the event. Students are also asked to work one shift either the set up day or the day of. Students bus, clean, and re-set the tables for guests to sit at. High School students traditionally come back to volunteer at this event- they need forms as well.

Other miscellaneous events 50/50 We sell 50/50 tickets throughout the morning. Last year the 50/50 winner went for over $600! Flowers Hellen Harvey usually gets a fabulous donation of a variety of flowers that we sell outside by the silent auction.

T-Shirt Design Contest Information went out via email. Check charms for flyer Has already been discussed in each class and with the color guard. Designs due Friday, October 25 (same day as Fall Festival) All students will receive the t-shirt for free Shirts are $5 for adults and anyone else that might want one. Adults will need to pre-order, more info to come.

Last year We raised about $16,000 and had a BLAST! This is meant to be a fun community event as much as it is a fundraiser. I realize I/we ask a lot for this event but it is the primary fundraiser of the program and I ask for very little after this event has passed. Thank you so much for your efforts and donations in advance!

The Triple Crown Weekend The weekend of the breakfast includes the following events: Friday, December 6 Stuart Holiday Parade (early release) Saturday, December 7 Hobe Sound Holiday Parade 1 PM Cafeteria Decorating 3 PM Sunday, December 8 THE BREAKFAST! 8 AM- Noon I thank everyone in advance for not sleeping that weekend. The kids traditionally handle it very well (as much sugar as possible..). The adults usually need a month vacation.

Volunteer Hours Please keep track of any and all volunteer hours for ANY activity you do for HOMS. You can send these in to me at any time. Our computer system cannot track activity done outside of HOMS. These hours add up to get HOMS special recognition and an award.
