RED RIVER ROVERS January/February 2016 2016 CHAPTER OFFICERS President Jeannette Idell - 903-436-0203 1st Vice President Patrick Duvall - 817-454-7516 2nd Vice President June Guess - 580-369-3918 3rd Vice President Mike Hillhouse - 972-249-6215 Secretary Ann Kriesman - 817-992-8039 Treasurer Curtis Buchhorn - 214-384-3933 National Director Charles Trahan - 409-790-2329 Alternate National Director Connie Tucker - 605-390-6452 Past President Dennis Moore - 580-574-3945 CHRISTMAS LUNCHON What a great time was had by all those attending the Christmas Luncheon in Denton, Texas the first week of December. There were seventy three (73) members and two guest attending. The Hillhouses, McGuires and Woods had registered but had to cancel due to illness. Dennises cancelled due to a death in the family. I have to note that I didn t recognize half who attended. it may have been the fact that many dressed up for the occasion. The officers and their spouse annually serve as the hosts for the Luncheon. The room was beautifully decorated. A candy cane striped Christmas tree adorned the gift table and each dining table held a candy cane Poinsettia arrangement as the center piece.. given as door prizes at the conclusion of the event. Following the luncheon meal Dennis Moore presented 2015 Perfect Attendance Awards to Bob and Ann Kriesman, John and Biny Sharp, and Jeannette Idell. (Billy was ill and missed one rally.) The Kriesmans and Sharps haven t missed a rally in three years and Jeannette has attended all rallies for the last two years.. Before the Installation of 2016 officers, Darrell Gilliland recognized the 2015 officers in attendance and led the thanks for their service to the chapter during the past year. All of the current officers were elected for an additional term at the September business meeting and will serve through December 2016. Norma Hamel again was charged with managing the Chinese Gift Exchange. Crown Royal and Bailey s Irish Cream seemed to be the most popular treats. The New China King Buffet in Denton has for many years been the location for our December Luncheon. It is a central location with a large room, complimentary, that we are able to use for the duration of our luncheon and other activities. We will return to the same location in 2016. AREA VP ELECTED In a special election held in November, Rod Sartwell was elected to serve as the South Central Area Vice President. As Area Vice President Rod will also serve as President of the Six- State Rally Association. He will be completing the term of office left vacant by the resignation of Jim McCabe. Rod and his wife Ethel have been visitors of the chapter many times over the past few years. DECEMBER WHOSZAT! The WHOSZAT member of the month for December will be announced in March at the rally in Weatherford. MARCH RALLY The first rally of the 2016 rally season will be March 10-13 at Oak Creek RV Park in Weatherford, TX. The deadline for registration will be March 4. Page 4 ENHANCING FMCA MEMBERSHIP In his Executive Director s Commentary (December FMC Magazine, pgs. 13 and 14), Jerry Yeatts touched on several items, but two in particular I want to emphasize. 1) The importance of recruiting new FMCA members. We all benefit from a larger parent organization and one of the best selling points is the FMCAssist transportation insurance that is included with membership. We all come across non-fmca members (no FMCA egg on their coach) as we stay in RV parks across the nation, and it is a disservice to them as well as to ourselves to not introduce them to the benefits of FMCA membership. Each FMC magazine includes an enrollment form, so when you ve finished reading your FMC magazine put it in your mo- torhome to hand to a potential member But before you do that remember to add your F-number to the FMCA Enrollment Form so you will get credit for recruiting a member. (The enrollment form is on page 26 and the Recruiting Rewards are explained on page 85 in the December issue.) 2) Keeping your FMCA Membership current Family Motor Coach Association has introduced a new option for renewing your FMCA membership. Now you can sign up for AUTO RENEWAL. (See page 14 for specifics) If you decide not to take advantage of this option, remember to keep apprised of your membership expiration LUNCH ATTENDEES Allen, Ron & Jill Armstrong, Bill & Melissa Bass, Grady Beall, Steve & Melody Bennett, Mike & Donna Blackshear, Ken & Donna Buchhorn, Curtis & Marva Burroughs, Tom & Judy Campbell, Snoopy & Susan Clark, L E & Mary Daugherty, Kenneth & Joyce Day, Dusty & Ruby Decker, Carol Dreher, Mike & Kerry Duvall, Pat & Kathy Gilliland, Darrell & Gracer Graham, Ben & Hazel Grasso, Keith & Jayne Guess, June Hamel, Norma Holloway, Dee Idell, Billy & Jeannette Kriesman, Bob & Ann Marie Landrum, Robert & Rita Rae Longpre, Don & Gladys Mabry, Gary & Kathy Marchisin, Ernie & Lu Ann Matthews, Craig & Sharlot McCollum, Jim & Pat McMillan, Mike & Cheryl Mobley, Jerry & Dianne Moore, Dennis & Erika Moore, Gordon & Peggy Nelson, Jerry & Shirley Peadon, Cookie Robinson, Robert & Maureen Sharpe, John & Biny Tucker, Tuck & Connie Weygandt, Peggy Wright, Ed & Jean Woodling, Tom & Sandy
