Volume 33, Issue 12 December 2016 Prez Sez It seems like just yesterday I was typing up my first Prez Sez column and now here I am putting together my last installment. A lot has happened since I was elected. I have so many fond memories of my term as President and there are many accomplishments made by the Club that I am proud to have been a part of. We have made great strides in ensuring that we get better quality Leech lake Strain Fingerlings for our stocking study, our Stocking Study was referenced multiple times at the Muskies, Inc. 50th Anniversary Symposium both by presenters and there were also two Poster Projects (one of which was our own) touching upon our ongoing study. We have increased and improved our inventory of PIT Tag scanners for the study allowing for our anglers to better harvest data for the study. We have had many notable speakers at our meetings and events including Basketball Legend Christian Laettner at our Annual Fundraiser in 2015. We have had tremendous success selling raffle tickets and Garage Sale lures at our booth at the Madison Fishing Expo/Wisconsin Fishing Expo. We saw many old friends retire from the Board and from various positions in the club and we filled their spots with equally remarkable people. We have continued our legacy of a high quality and well attended, Intermediate and Advance Muskie School. We have also added (or have just about added) an electronic payment feature and online registration process on our website for future Muskie Schools and eventually other club events. We have maintained a high membership number ranking us as the December General Meeting The next general member meeting will be December 12 @ 7:00 PM. The meeting will be held at the 5100 Bar in McFarland, WI. Ryan McMahon will be talking about musky fishing in Minnesota. He will be focusing on how understanding how muskies hunt and eat can help you adjust your presentations to hook more fish Remember the meetings are open to all and come early to enjoy a great dinner at the 5100. second largest Muskies, Inc. Chapter yet keeping our camaraderie and personal that makes CCMI so special. None of the things listed above would have been possible without the amazing people on our Board of Directors. I want to thank all past and present Board Members for their dedication, time, support, and their talents that made my time as President such a great experience. I want to thank all of the Club Members that attend our meetings, outings, events, and visit our booths at the various shows; the club is here for you never forget that. ~ continued next page ~ Muskie Ink Page 1 12/7/2016

Prez Says continued Thank you to the volunteers and donors, your efforts and gifts are the lifeblood of this club and we are grateful. I would also like to thank my friends, my family, my wife Dana, my son (and Fishing Buddy) Luke Jr., and my daughter Lauren for their support and sacrifices which allowed me to carry out my duties as President during my term. The best part of being President and being a member of CCMI was all of the wonderful people that I got to meet and to work with. I have built some special friendships and gained some awesome fishing partners because of this club. I strongly urge you to get more involved in the club if you feel so inclined. The more you give, the more you get. I also ask you to give your full support to our next President, Vice President, and officers; the future of this club is bright and I can t wait to see where we go and what we do in the coming years. As a Past President, I will remain serving on the Board of Directors. I will also continue my role as Merchandise Chairman, selling the CCMI gear at meetings/events. Be sure to say Hi to me at future club functions and out on the local waters if happen to bump into me. In closing, I encourage you to introduce new people to CCMI and to Muskie Fishing (especially kids) as I often say Muskie Fishing builds character. It has been an honor and a privilege to be the President of Capital City Chapter of Muskies, Inc. for the last two years. I thank you for all of the great memories and a like always, I hope you catch a Monster! Musky Stocking Update This year s stocking has been postponed until spring due to uncooperative weather conditions in Minnesota that prevented the safe extraction and transportation of the fingerlings. We will announce when the stocking will take place in the spring and we would welcome volunteers to help with the tagging and stocking of the leechers. Tom Penniston caught both of these 46" fish on Lake St. Clair, Steve Reinstra was fishing with him. Both were caught on the same day, one was just a little beefier than the other.
