Friday May 18, 2012 6:00 p.m. Dairy Goat Walk Around Youth & Festival Events "Health Occupational Students will be assisting youth from local schools and adults from Rutherford Life Services in a special Dairy Goat Walk Around. This is an opportunity for these folks to experience some of the excitement and joy of being in the Show Ring, walking a dairy goat, without actually competing." Best Dressed Kids Costume Contest The goat is in costume and the exhibitor is encouraged to dress up as well, but is not required. Costumes must be comfortable and allow for movement of both the exhibitor and the goat. The sky is the limit, use your imagination and have fun! Youth of all ages (21 & younger) compete together. The winning entry will act as the Grand Marshal for the Spindale Festival Goat Parade, which begins at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, May 18, 2012. Spindale Dairy Goat Festival Parade The parade begins at 7:00 p.m. on May 18 th. Those of you showing goats are encouraged to line up at the far west end of the show tents (next to Oak Street) and join in at the end of the motorized vehicles and walking parade participants. Goat cart entries and costumes are encouraged. Today your dairy goat is the star! Our festival falls on Armed Forces day weekend and we are hoping to see some patriotic goats representing our U.S. military. Let s have a great Dairy Goat Parade. Saturday, May 19, 2012 8:00 a.m. Fitting & Showmanship Contest Contest will be divided into four age divisions based on age of exhibitor on show date. FS- 1 FS- 2 FS- 3 FS- 4 Peewee Showmanship exhibitors 4 years & younger Junior Showmanship exhibitors 5-9 years old Intermediate Showmanship exhibitors 10-15 years old Senior Showmanship exhibitors 16-21 years old Youth will compete on their ability to show their goat to its best advantage. Does of any age or breed may be shown. Winners in each age division will be awarded prizes. No entry fee or pen fee.

Show Veterinarian: NCDA Veterinarian Division Rules & Regulations * Both Senior Doe Shows and Both Junior Doe Shows are sanctioned separately by the American Dairy Goat Association and their rules shall govern. Refer to http://adga.org/showkit/showrules.pdf. Only American Dairy Goat Association, American Goat Society and Canadian Goat Society registered, recorded or applied- for animals may be shown in an official American Dairy Goat Association show. The following breed divisions are sanctioned for each show (and will show in this order). The show order is NOT subject to change. 1. Alpine 2. LaMancha 3. Nubian 4. Saanen 5. Nigerian Dwarf 6. Oberhasli 7. Recorded Grade * Entries need to be post marked by May 8, 2012. Entry fee is $15.00 per animal. Late entries (postmarked after May 8 th ) are $20.00 per animal. There is also a $3 pen fee, and animals must be penned two or more per 5 x5 pen. Pens will be bedded with straw. Exhibitors are not allowed to claim their pens prior to check- in. Entry fees must accompany entry form. Substitutions are discouraged, but will be allowed within breed during specified check- in times. There will be no refunds of fees paid. * The original registration certificate or duplicate application stamped by the ADGA office is required for all animals under six months of age and this MUST be shown to the Show Secretary before the start of the show. The stamped duplicate certificate is valid for 30 days from the ADGA office date stamped on it. * Champion Challenge may show on the Permanent Champion Certificate Notification letter issued by ADGA in conjunction with the original registration or recordation certificate. The letter is valid for use until December 31 of the year of issuance. * No copies of registration or the stamped duplicate application, telegrams or phone calls will be accepted in lieu of the original certificate. * All animals entering the grounds must be healthy. Health papers are not required for animals originating in North Carolina. For out- of- state animals, health certificates are required, as well as negative brucellosis and TB tests within 30 days or herd certifications and accreditation unless animals are from states that are certified TB and Brucellosis Free by the USDA (check with your veterinarian). A health check of all animals will be made on the grounds and suspect /unhealthy animals will be barred from entry. When you submit your entry, you agree to abide by the decision of show officials. * All animals must be checked in with attending show veterinarian and the show superintendent during the prescribed check- in times. * If your animal is awarded a GCH or RGCH, you must have your papers ready for immediate viewing by the judge. Please verify all information on the official show sheet prior to signing. * The Show Committee will bed pens with clean rye straw. Exhibitors are responsible for providing their own feed and any additional bedding desired. * Animals will be accepted from 12 noon 8:00 p.m. on Friday, May 18, 2012 and from 6:30 a.m. 7:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 19, 2012 and will be released at the conclusion of the show. * Judging will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 18, 2012. * Sanction is provided for Alpine, LaMancha, Nubian, Saanen, Nigerian Dwarf, Oberhasli, and Recorded Grade.
