Check the goat information board in the barn during fair week for any changes. 1. All goats must have a required USDA or WSDA Scrapie Eradication Flock ID Tag. 2. REGISTRATION: Pre-registration is mandatory at http://bentonfranklinfair.com. 3. TAG DAY: All market goats must be weighed and tagged at the Fairgrounds on May 20, 2017, between 8:00 a.m. and noon. Male goats must be altered before tag day. a. Exhibitors of goats born or purchased outside of Washington State must present Out of State Certificate of Veterinary Inspection from the state of origin at tag day. If this documentation is not available, the goat will not be tagged and will be unable to show at the fair. This is in accordance with WAC 16-54-090. http://apps.leg.wa.gov/wac/default.aspx?cite=16-54-090 4. WEIGH-IN: All market goats must be weighed-in at the Fairgrounds on Monday, August 21, 2017, between noon and 7:00 p.m. The weight range is 65 125. Under and overweight animals will be sent home. Market Goats and Breeding Stock a. All animals must have been born after 10/01/16 and owned by the exhibitor no later than 05/01/17. b. Goat will not be allowed across the scale until it is checked by the official Fair Veterinarian. c. Only one Wether or doe goat per exhibitor. No horns allowed on any animal showing. d. A backup animal is allowed, but only one animal will be permitted to be displayed, shown, and sold at the Fair. e. Animals will be judged in weight classes.

f. White ribbon animals will not be eligible to sell. g. Does or Wethers must be of dairy or meat breed. No Pygmy or Angora. h. Goats not allowed into pens until it has crossed the scale and Health Certificate is completed. i. Exhibitors that do not meet the minimum requirements for Market Class must take their animal home. Breeding Stock j. Due to the high risk of Q-Fever shedding in goats near kidding time, we will not allow does that are within 30 days before or after giving birth into the fair. 5. FAIR WEEK: Exhibitor is required keep animal supplied with water, feed, and clean bedding from weigh-in on Monday until the animal leaves the Fairgrounds on Saturday evening. a. Market Goats, Market Breed Does, Novelty and Dairy breed classes will begin at 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 22, 2017. b. Market Goats, Market Breed Does, Novelty and Dairy Fitting and Showing Classes will begin at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 23, 2017. You must use your own animal. Champion showman will compete in the Round Robin on Thursday, August 25, 2017. c. Market Stock Sale will be on Friday, August 25, 2017. d. Please see information board for pertinent information regarding classes, meetings, and other activities pertaining to the Goat Barn. Required meeting for exhibitors, leaders, parents, and advisors on Monday, August 21 st at 8:00 p.m. in the goat show ring. e. No solid display boards or solid kick boards are allowed in the Goat Barn. f. White shirt, black pants preferred. All clothing must be neat and clean. Check 4H/FFA Youth Rules Livestock Dress Code. Clothing should not be revealing or offensive in nature. No bare midriffs, low-cut tops or pants that reveal underwear. Clothing with rips, tears or holes in unacceptable. Fair Board and department superintendent s rulings are final. Non-compliance will result in being excused from the show ring and loss of premiums. g. All exhibitors are encouraged to enter the costume parade. h. All clubs/chapters must have an educational display. i. All grains must be kept in tightly sealed containers. Due to limited space, tack may be assigned in a different area. No tack stored on top of pens. j. Chain collars are proper for showmanship. Animals are to be your best trained and must bea at least four months old.

CONTESTS 30 22 15 K. Quiz Bowl Contest Contest consists of two teams of four members each competing as in the College Bowl. Each exhibitor must enter separately. Only intermediate and senior 4-H exhibitors may advance to the State Fair. Contest date and time will be posted. L. Dairy Goat Judging This contest is open to any member enrolled in 4-H and FFA. Contestants must be prepared to demonstrate skills and give written or oral reasons. Contest date and time will be posted. M. Milking Contest Dairy goat exhibitors will be allowed to draw milk. Other fair exhibitors may enter with the dairy goat owner s written permission. Exhibitor must provide goat. You may wish to have a backup goat standing by.
